Are you guys sick of the USA?

Meh. All of you have a point about those problems about US, including Dixie's long post. But...did a person become a politician by choice? It seems like you can only be a douchebag in order to become a high ranking politican.

Pretty much :laugh2:

I felt this way a lot during my college early career years. I've grown to appreciate living here -or less uncertain about my socioeconomic status?- more and more. Only place where I'd live is where there's soccer during "normal" after-work hours, cheap but good wine, a semi-decent job, lots of women my age wanting to date, warm-ish weather, friendly people and a gov't with a good deaf benefits program.....That's a long list.

sounds like france.

PFH: Before moving to France for cheap wine there is a slight problem about something you might be affected by: when can one retire- 60/62? You might also have another problem: the French don't use ASL!

Asymptotic with hot girls, always approaching them, indefinitely

I was thinking Sweden for the first guess but since you said warm and good, cheap wine.....

Go to Norway.... seriously. First off, they host a huge laser show concert for Deaf (one of the biggest Deaf gatherings on planet)

But seriously, watch the extended scenes from Michael Moore's SICKO... on the DVD, you will want to move to Norway. Awesome everything there.

And its right next to good ol' Sweeden. Who knew?

Did you know ASL derived from French sign language?

Did you know French and English are practically the same language? It is a matter of pronounciation. I speak both languages ok. I think about 75%-85% of the words are the same. Pronunciation.... there's one, same in French it's prononciaion with a slash over the last o. In fact any word that ends in -tion... portion, constitution, prostitution. . is the same word in French. In fact all those words derived from French. You just pronounce them differently. I like Languages. :) Good point Bottesini, Italian?
I don't speak any Italian :)

Actually, English contains only about 40% vocabulary derived from French (and that number is shrinking as the English language expands but very few modern French words find their way into the modern English language). The reason for this is that England was conquered by William of Normandy in the 11th century, and for several hundred years after that, the language of the English monarchy and the royal court was actually French. So of course many French words found their way into the common language, but the English that eventually came to dominate England (and then America and the rest of the Commonwealth) is what was spoken in London in the 14th, 15th, and 16th century, and derived grammatically from Old English, which is a Germanic language.

Just because a language shares a lot of the same vocabulary with another doesn't mean they are similar. And many of the English words that are derived from French no longer have the same semantic meaning as they do in French. In language, even signed languages, grammar and syntax is what distinguishes language as similar or different, and French grammar is vastly different from English grammar.
