Are you guys sick of the USA?

America is the land of the plenty...and we should be rightfully proud of that.

While everyone has a right to be proud of their country, they also have a right to dislike their own country. If he chooses to leave his home country of the US of A, then everyone should rightfully respect his choice.

Am I sick of the good ol' United States of America?

In general, I'd say no, I haven't got to that point yet. Sure, we've all had a lot of laws that may seem dumb or witless. We've had a lot of endless political topics that just seems to go nowhere. Health Insurances that are spiking up which causes an uproar. Foreclosures. We've seen how it affects one and another. We've seen people that are outraged at the government. We've seen people that are at the point where they wring each other's neck. We've seen some good samaritans (yes there's still some out there, I'd like to believe) and bad people out there. We've seen complainers/whiners as well as happy-go-lucky peoples. The list goes on and on. You get the picture.

What I am saying is, Even though in our darkest hours in this country - There's one thing I do know of; When there's an opportunity that rises, we all can either take up to it or pass it. Choices are what made this country good because we still have the freedom to make a choice. It's not about how we have to be symmetrical or asymmetrical. We can move or either stay.

Granted, I may have at a point got sick of some overzealous people who may be overbearing on the same issues. I may have got sick of how lame it can become. I may have got sick of how things were going to be run; but -- It doesn't mean that it would force me to leave this country.

There is not ONE country that is perfect.

Indeed, you said that very well and i agree.

U.S. most admired country globally: survey

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) – The United States is the most admired country globally thanks largely to the star power of President Barack Obama and his administration, according to a new poll.

It climbed from seventh place last year, ahead of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan which completed the top five nations in the Nation Brand Index (NBI).

"What's really remarkable is that in all my years studying national reputation, I have never seen any country experience such a dramatic change in its standing as we see for the United States for 2009," said Simon Anholt, the founder of NBI, which measured the global image of 50 countries each year.

He believes that during the previous administration of George W. Bush the United States suffered in the world ranking with its unpopular foreign policies but since Obama was elected, and despite the recent economic turmoil, the country's status has risen globally.

"There is no other explanation," Anholt said in an interview, referring to the impact of Obama.

The global survey, conducted by GFK Roper Public Affairs & Media, involved 20,000 people in 20 rich and developing countries around the globe. They were asked to rate 50 nations in categories such as culture, governance, people, exports, tourism, landscape and education.

Canada took the biggest hit in the latest survey, falling to seventh from fourth place, while China climbed several spots to 22nd, which Anholt believes in due in part to the successful staging of the Olympics.

China has always scored low on human rights and environmental policies but high on cultural heritage.

"It is the first time China's profile has risen," said Anholt, who has been doing the annual poll since 2005.

"Since the Olympics its score for tourism and its people has risen and that has helped to stem its decline," Anholt explained.

Italy maintained the sixth spot in the survey for the second year, while Switzerland came in eight, followed by Australia in 9th place and Spain and Sweden, which tied for 10th place.

At the opposite end of the survey Colombia and Kenya tied for 47th place. Angola was number 49 and Iran came in last at number 50.

Well, if you hate America, there's countries you can live in like Cuba and Russia.

My mom mentioned that she read some stuff on Obama and Bill Gates actually getting together.
The reason behind this is that they were probably discussing RFID chips and having Microsoft build the database for it.

Don't quote me on that, I have no source on it.

I'm English, and I am thankful for our healthcare system. Despite waiting lists, at least it's free- except prescriptions, the cost of which is constantly going up (but free for certain things like insulin or contraceptives) and dentist fees- that does seem to go against the point of a government/tax-paid healthcare system.

It's not much though, £7.10 once a month for my medication, and £25 or so for a dentist visit- last time I went that covered a clean/polish and 3 fillings. (Incidentally, Ive never had filling before, and I'm getting pain again where one of them is- does this mean the filling has eroded and needs re-doing? I have a terrible, sugary diet so I wouldn't be surprised).

I read Americans on forums I go on saying they don't have insurance and have to pay hundreds a month for medication- this really seems ridiculous, what are taxes for?? I'm also glad I don't have to fill in my own taxes, unless I'm self-employed.

I watched 'Sicko' by Michael Moore and it was shocking how much was being charged, for someone on minimum wage, for healthcare- a visit to the ER for a urine infection was hundreds of dollars, just to get some antibiotics!

There are many things I don't like about my country, namely the government and their constant nannying and 'incentives' for people to behave the way they want us to- so that they can tick off statistics and targets. The jobcentre is one particular bugbear- you get a benefit, of £200 or so a month, so long as you go to the jobcentre offices every 2 weeks (then every week after 6 months) and sign a form to say you have been looking for a job, and write 3 things you have done to look for a job- these can be reading 2 papers and checking the job adverts on their website! It was a waste of my money and time, just so they could tick off a box saying x% of people get a job in so many months...I did find a job, through a newspaper ad- nothing to do with them- and had it for a month before I had to leave for personal/health reasons. I'm now getting health related benefits instead. The jobcentre staff, knowing I was looking for full time, daytime, computer-related work and don't drive, asked if I can cook and suggested a part time night job cooking (which required a food hygiene certificate!) outside of my town- at 3 am! How did they think I would get a bus there at 3 am???

/rant....every country can be equally as ignorant to the needs of it's people. I do not like the policies of my govt, nor those I read of the US govt, but at least I am free not to like them, and for the most part can live my life as I wish. I'm glad my internet isn't censored, I can wear/drink/eat what I want, associate with whom I choose, and am not in fear of war/combat happening in my area.

US is actual better than any other countries for last 2 centuries where other countries sucks.

Let's compare them in 1800s and 1900. Which was better? US period.

Sweden:

I talked to a friend of mine last weekend. I asked him which country was the best for him to visit. He said he picked Sweden because he visited Sweden for a month. It was the election time of the year there.

The booth they had to advertise for the people who are up for elections had a sign language interpreter at each single one of them.

I don't recall any parties here in the states having interpreters at their booths.

For these who says that Europe is lacking in Deaf services, I'm constantly finding evidence pointing otherwise.

isn't Sweden the one where nearly all deafies have CI?

Who is a supporter of our USA military?

I am absolutely against it. Want to know why?
One lady friend of mine was in Iraq. She got shot at, came home to get fixed up. On her 2nd tour in Iraq she was unlucky enough to be near a roadside bomb when it went off. Metal debris went through her neck, she was nearly decapitated. Surgeries and such later, she was finally released on a medical retirement from our fine military.

Now - A deaf dude decides to become lazy and stuff... gets SSI or SSDI - and bam, he has almost 100% coverage for health care. This coverage allows him to go to the ER for ANY ailments he feels like having. This also allows him to partake in any risky sports such as auto racing, snowboarding in the back country in an avalanche zone, go shark fishing in a kayak - with the comfort of being covered instantly, without questions.

This lady who just got blown up now has to wait 24 months until she can get insurance while being on SSDI with the military pension because she has a family of two kids and she can't work at the moment due to too much pain.
Her bills are going super high, and she is resorting to illegal drugs due to pain and PTSD.

Is this fair?

When I got my SSDI, I was told I would have to wait 2 years before I qualified for any medical insurace.

Let me answer this way

Yes with SSDI the wait is 24 months. SSI it usually starts right away. Not sure what the deal is with his friend. None of the military friends I have (and I have many) have had trouble getting their medical covered after serving.

It's Congress I have a problem with. Still earmarking wasteful spending while covering up the responsibility to bring the deficit down. Hell, they put too much concern on campaigning in order to keep their position in DC. As long as politicians believe that fiscal discipline is career suicide, little will change.

I'm proud to be an American, where at at least I know I am free, And the men who died, gave that right to me, so I'll proudly stand up and defend her still today and I'm proud to be an American!!

(I think I did that right. I'm going by memory and haven't heard the song for a few years. Probably since I lost my hearing. :giggle:)
