Are you guys sick of the USA?

Other points to embark upon:

In France it's required for all employers to provide 5 weeks of paid vacation on top of around 20 (correct me if I am mistaken) days of "holiday." They also have 35 hours of work days a week. If you work overtime, its required by law that you have that overtime as a vacation time.

In Norway if a doctor deems that you are stressed or what not, they can prescribe you a 2 week tropical vacation to anywhere in the world. This is paid by your insurance, eg: government. What a stress relief!

In Cuba if you ever happen to end up there with serious health ailments, they will take care of you, no charge. They're good people, despite the political strain they have with America. (My cousin is currently living in Cuba.)

Yes, I used to live in Colorado and I miss it so much!
Then you would be surprised to find I live in Boulder. The town where I feel like I fit in like butter. Everyone here can understand me when I go up to them and sign to them.
It's just a paradise here, really.

Too bad the US government is something else.

I love the United States of America. I have no desire to permanently live any other place.

That doesn't mean I look down on other countries. They all have their own pros and cons.

I simply love my country, imperfections and all, most of all.

I appreciate America's blessings and opportunities, respect its history, and try to improve on its shortcomings.

I am saddened by things I see happening in America, and pray to God that He will have mercy on this great nation.

I'm all for expatriation if that's what you want to do. You need to consult an immigration attorney in the country to which you want to immigrate. There are legal issues, including tax issues. You may have to give up your American citizenship to become a citizen of another country (requirements vary by country). There are plenty of expat sites to provide information.

Personally, I love visiting other countries but my life is here. I don't want to move anywhere until my kids are grown.

I've been researching the citizenship requirements for a while. The best way is marriage though. Both of you can share citizenships.

good post.

I still don't see your point. Allow me to expand -

I do not use a videophone, and if I wanted to, I could buy one and use it anywhere that has high speed internet. Even Webcams work. However, I wouldn't be able to call places in other countries.

I don't watch movies.

Football - I'm a hardcore Broncos fan. I'm willing to give up the opportunity of going to the game. I can still watch streaming video over the internet though.

I feel Sweden has better Deaf awareness than we do in the states too. For these who is saying no, how many of you have been to other countries?
Just curious.

You can't have relay IM either. Hello TTY again.

My home country dump me because I'm deaf. It's one of example why I love for live in US.

USA!
USA!

And, indeedy, have mercy on this great nation currently going to pot.

USA!
USA!

Always been proud of my country ever since I was little. I've always said, "I'm proud to be an American" because of her ingenuity, her spirit, and the sacrafices people made to make this a great country of freedom and liberty. Though all that is slowly being trashed and flushed down a corroded toilet.

I have nothing against the States! :) I love visiting the States, but I'm always glad I can go home to Canada. We couldn't have asked for a better southern neighbour.

But if you hate your country that much, you could always come up here. :)

Do you get insurance when you visit the states?

I have a friend that spent overnight at a hospital due to an accident, and she was shocked at the bill... :eek3:

How old are you koko?

Roughly the same age as Homer Simpson.

And no, it is not an ad hominem, it's just the "USA!" chant remind me of the scene when Homer took off his shirt and twirled it above his head. I am sorry, but when foreigners see "USA! USA! USA!" they tend to think of Homer Simpson...

No wonder why people don't like Americans, when they see Americans doing the same thing.

sounds more tomelike she is not following thru on paperworks etc.
SSDI provides medical....and vets recieve care.
super high bills are reimbursed when the insurance goes thru

Who is a supporter of our USA military?

I am absolutely against it. Want to know why?
One lady friend of mine was in Iraq. She got shot at, came home to get fixed up. On her 2nd tour in Iraq she was unlucky enough to be near a roadside bomb when it went off. Metal debris went through her neck, she was nearly decapitated. Surgeries and such later, she was finally released on a medical retirement from our fine military.

Now - A deaf dude decides to become lazy and stuff... gets SSI or SSDI - and bam, he has almost 100% coverage for health care. This coverage allows him to go to the ER for ANY ailments he feels like having. This also allows him to partake in any risky sports such as auto racing, snowboarding in the back country in an avalanche zone, go shark fishing in a kayak - with the comfort of being covered instantly, without questions.

This lady who just got blown up now has to wait 24 months until she can get insurance while being on SSDI with the military pension because she has a family of two kids and she can't work at the moment due to too much pain.
Her bills are going super high, and she is resorting to illegal drugs due to pain and PTSD.

Is this fair?

SSDI does provide medical insurance - but to hearing people who are disabled through work or what not - you have to be on it 24 months before getting insurance.

The vets get care, to a point. There are varied levels of benefits you can get once medically retired. Some people gets zero, which is the case here.

I know, it's crazy. I would like our troops to get better care than that. It's BS.

Um... I have a hard time believing that the military won't cover her if she still need pain meds, because they have a tendency to give out too many drugs like candy. If she's turning to illegal drugs, it's not because of the pain but because the military gave her too many pain meds, and is thus addicted.

So got nothing to do with insurance or medical coverage, but rather the fact that they take care of their veterans "too well."
