Please do not cheat and answer my simple question Hoichi - are you still deaf after removing CI or not?
YES or NO?
Fuzzy
YES or NO?

The only part I don't like is surgeries on babies when they're that little. Especially when it's not for a life-threatening situation.
I mean no ill will towards you. Just that I guess we don't see eye to eye on things. But to each their own.alright no plm.
Well, one way you could look at it is that I grew up with nothing at first for hearing, then got HAs. I've gone on to have a successful career as a graphic designer I don't consider myself a failure in the tiniest bit. If I got a CI now, it would be only to gain sounds I've not heard before, and I'm not willing to do a surgery for that at this point. But you do understand that those failures that many deaf people use as "proof" CI is "not worth it" are due to LATE implantation?

im not cheating
you do understand reading all my posts in this thread that i havnt been discussing deaf?
you realize that right?
what i have been discussing is Deaf.
not deafness
this is the fundamental plm
people like you cant even state Deaf let alone accept us so its always just deaf, deaf , deaf,,
even though we Deaf every damn day state to us, your ideas and measurement of loss ie deaf isnt high on our list.
to us Deaf what matters more is not your loss, but OUR GAIN
that is our culture and language if you haven't noticed yet.
now
again to your question CI differs deafness, that is what it does, it differs it, turn the device off and your deafness is no longer differed.
that is not a cure
indeed
but
im not the one who believes it cures deafness. i stooped worrying about deafness the second i became Deaf
they state that. they've made those claims. not me
what i and others DO state is the policies and statements and designs and behavior of the combined system that is CI which actively pursues a policy and system that functions to deny the acquisition of our language that is signs to our children and babies...this combined system and how it acts resembles and typical colonization.
is to use their words, "wiping us out" it is, to use their words "lead to extinction"
as Deaf.
well shit...
lucky us they've been rather upfront about it.
heavens forbid what kind of discussion this would be if they actually hid their motives..
its already like pulling teeth out with you, to see our side of this.. id imagine it would be like the iron maiden the other way
define late implantation?

Hoochie, I regard anyone dhh, HA or not, CI or not. ASL, PSE, SEE or otherwise. Oral or mute all as part of the deaf community. If you wanna pick n choose, you gonna end up lonely.
where i have NOT answered you?
ive given you straight answers,
im not sure what the issue here is
can you be more clear with me
I guarantee you my man, Hoochie.. f-what anyone thinks, light a fat one..I will take a cooler of Spaceman Whiteboard beers...we can float off into the galaxy...have a great chat...I promise you that when we float back down to earth..we will land in the same deaf community as it was since we left and love it even more. As it is. With no fighting.Deaf culture does that
no me
