He doesn't go on TV. He uses his skills to actually treat patients. That is the difference between a clinician and an entertainer.

Uh, no, Fuzzy. Dr Phil is an entertainer. At one point, he may have been a psychologist licensed to practice in Texas, but that is no more. As of now, he is just a "talking head" on TV. He is in no way a specialist.

I absolutely hate using blogs as a source of information, but this is the best I could find. If someone finds better sources that supports this, please feel free to post.

She has the money to get her teeth fixed. That's probably what she will do instead of putting the money towards spending time in a treatment center for her addictions.

Unfortunately, that's true. But no one is helping her by not making her face her consequences. As long as she is protected, she will die of her disease. That is a given.

I sure as heck don't see it. Daddy got jail time for domestic violence against his girlfriend. I've also heard nothing about her Mother.

The only thing that comes to mind is train wreck, and, it's a freaking shame. :(

Yeah, but please, licence renewal is but an administrative formality.

It doesn't negate in any way years of education one received prior to acquiring
the licence, or the years of experience while working in the field.

usually, it's just the financial formality - you simply have to pay to renew your licence time after time.


For example, let's say you are an autobody mechanic who at one point
after 20 years of working as one
decided to retire his licence - does that mean all of a sudden you've stopped being an experienced mechanic??

not really. in this case, when Dr. Phil is no longer licensed and now has his own tv show, it means he's no longer bounded by ethics and regulation. He is free to make any claim and method he wants without any legal liability and boundary.

That's why he's a quack.

Yes, he is experienced. However, by retiring his license to practice his profession, he cannot treat people. Just like a retired doctor cannot practice medicine without a license.
