Somebody began a thread here re this; I just don't know how to find it; I am waiting for someone to make a comment in it and then it will appear for me as "newest comment".

Candybrowneyes is the OP

Yep. Found that too now. THanks.

Conflicted emotions?

Yes, I was. I was a mix of excited and nervous. Also, I wasn't really sure if I wanted to start giving up my weekends. This was the only day I worked this weekend, but that's because it was a training day. Eventually, when the pace picks up for the season, I will have more work.

So I'm back now. :) It was a very slow day today. We maybe only had 100-200 guests. Eventually it will speed up to 1,000-2,000.

Just keep telling yourself how much fun you will have when you get to college. All the work will have been worth it.

Going to Hawaii?

Yeah, Hawaii, pretty much. My friend there said the public utilities are in the lowlands and he lives 1600 feet up so he will be ok....just no utilities. Cannot fathom why they would put their utility plants down low.

US Navy has sent 8 ships to sea and evacuated 5 military housing areas.

So far it is only an advisory, but an NOAA buoy has detected ad Tsunami in the Pacific.

Yeah. I just happen to be unlucky enough to live in a tsunami risk area. If one was to hit here, I have 20 minutes to head for the high hills since that's usually how long it take for people to detect a tsunami before they hit the coastline.

I live about a two or so minutes walk from the coastline.

Do you have friends on higher ground?

Do you have friends on higher ground?

Yep. :)

I just realized... I meant to build myself a tsunami evacuee kit when I moved here, but I never bothered getting around to it. LOL!

I am also reminded why I am a minimalist now.

I don't think the waves will hit here, but when you hear about it... it reminds you of the things you have forgotten to do.

Are there a bunch of idiots out there with surfboards right now?

Too cold for that!

You're asking if there's a bunch of idiots with kayaks... Yes. :giggle:

whatever it is you guys do up there in BC. :giggle: Is this affecting the Olympics any?

Souggy, what's a tsunami evac kit? A 6 foot beachball you can climb into when disaster strikes? :P But seriously......what is it?

I am thinking it's the same as a hurricane evacuation kit. 1st aid, enough food/water for 3 days, and all documents that identify who you are including passport if necessary.
