By JAMIE SELF

About two dozen University of South Carolina students wore empty pistol holsters on campus last week, protesting rules that bar them from carrying firearms onto USC’s downtown Columbia campus....

Mythbuster confirmed only at point blank. Hmmm

Sabot wads are considerably larger than others. Although in my accident it could have been that the wad didn't detach from the sabot immediately after leaving the barrel and stuck on for a distance. It's been known to happen and is one explanation as to why there are so many flyers with sabots and shotguns.

Did you know one of your neighbor brought handgun to NYS for wedding. He forgot them, left at hotel. The maid found it and called cop and now that guy is under arrest for no permit.

Man! His rights already infringed and has not commit any crime. UNREAL!
One of my neighbors?

Smith & Wesson booked record sales as gun debate raged - Jun. 13, 2013
The past 12 months have been bad for gun violence, but good for Smith & Wesson.

The gun maker reported preliminary results Thursday showing that sales for the fiscal year ended April 30 hit a record $588 million, a 43% increase versus the year prior. Earnings were a record $1.22 a share, up from 40 cents a share in the prior fiscal year.

Both figures came in slightly ahead of analyst expectations. Smith & Wesson (SWHC)shares rose 5.3% in after-hours trading.

The gun industry saw a spike in demand from consumers fearing that the national debate over gun control would yield new regulations limiting their ability to buy certain firearms.

The trend began with President Obama's reelection and accelerated in the months after a gunman killed 20 children and six adults in December in Newtown, Conn. It may now be on the wane after the U.S. Senate failed to pass gun-control legislation in April that would have expanded background checks and banned some semi-automatic weapons.

Smith & Wesson's preliminary figures showed sales in its most recent quarter rose 38% versus a year prior to $179 million, also a record. The company will report its full fiscal year and fourth-quarter results on June 25.

Although I'm not a fan of rifle but I think it's time that I snatch up AR-15 soon.

$588 million. At $1,500 a gun that's 392,000 guns from one manufacturer in one year. If Ruger and Remington and Mossberg each did half that plus a little for all the other manufactures that's 1,176,000 guns sold last year. Obviously I'm sure my numbers are off but it's still got to be a hole lot of guns!

I also read they will be coming out with a new California model that shoots sunshine and happy thoughts.

I bet my ass that those who aren't supposed to get guns will pass the background check. And see? Additional of millions in just three years? That is A LOT! So, there has to be at least billions of guns out there. Gun control? A joke!

FBI gun background checks hit record highs - CNN.com

"For 2012, the agency ran more than 19.5 million background checks, another record that represented a year-over-year increase of more than three million."

Guess it's a lot more than that. Of coarse not all these are new guns but even at 1/3

I agree, gun control is a joke. I don't like to make the argument that there are to many guns to get rid of them all though. I think that the 2nd amendment has plenty of moral ground to stand on without stooping to logistics. A logistical problem can be solved eventually.

They are wonderfun guns but just firing one - there goes your whole paycheck so to speak. It just eats ammo. I'll stick with my Berettas...although I would like to get a nice rifle one day just to have fun with at the range.
