A Gun Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

has anybody noticed that guns are gone from stores and websites??? Cabela's, CheaperThanDirt, and a couple of stores in NJ... they're no longer selling guns except wimpy rifle and shotguns

what about you?

I thought CheaperThanDirt always sold only parts and accessories for AR-15's but not the guns themselves.

Our local gun shop has been swamped every day, and they have plenty of AR-15's and similar for sale. TCS was there yesterday to get the gun appraisals, and I'm going there this afternoon for Ladies Night (women only at one range on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3 p.m. on).

Back from Ladies Night at the range.

We used two guns, a revolver and a semi-auto pistol. We had 50 rounds to divide between the two. I used 19 in the semi-auto and 31 in the revolver. All 50 rounds hit the target but you can't find 50 individual holes (too many went thru the same hole).

It was fun. Everything is pink, and we got free t-shirts. The t-shirts were neat but also for a practical reason. Too many ladies show up at the range wearing low-cut tops which trap the burning ejected shells from the semi-autos in the most inconvenient sensitive areas. If a shooter shows up without a high-neck top, then she has to put on a t-shirt. :giggle:

I just checked Cabela's. They still sell guns on their website.

Cabela's: Semiautomatic

The gun shop was swamped again today. I've never seen it so busy on weekdays before. There was hardly any parking available.

Gun shops here are selling out. I have heard several people saying they can't find a certain gun they want. Our local gun show was packed this past weekend.

Our shop has started limiting the number of boxes per customer for some ammo. :(

I got little spooked when I went to stores because they always have shelves full of guns but right now - it's almost barren. I was thinking it's either sold out or removed out of respect for Sandy Hook shooting.

aw crap not again.....
TCS tried another gun shop today, and they were totally out of his ammo. The guy at the shop said they can't keep up with the demand. :(

Did you ask about the empty shelves? The stores here are just plain sold out. (We asked.) I don't see how removing ammo from a store shelf shows any respect for the victims at Sandy Hook. Their families wouldn't even be aware of it unless they went to gun shop and looked around, which I seriously doubt they would do.

No. I think it's a result of all the anti-gun talk and threats of new bans.

ah! it's back to business - Cheaper Than Dirt! to Resume Firearm Sales

A number of our close friends recently completed their CCW training. Recent events have made them make up their minds.

Next week I am taking our church pastor out to the range and teach him about different guns to conceal carry. I will let him shoot our guns and let him try out some of the gun store's models.

.223 ammo is very scarce. Fortunately I have about a case. When it becomes available again, my AR-15 loves any brand. I usually use Wolf or Federal.

Where is NY Edition of assault weapon with limit 7 ammo? Where is police station that where I have to register?

I'm glad that i don't live in NY.

Today, our nearby county sheriff gave his opinion:

Charleston County’s Sheriff Al Cannon voiced his opposition to proposed national gun restrictions in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. shooting.

During a press conference this morning, Cannon said people are “taking advantage of broken hearts” to push the gun agenda.

He also told reporters he would be violating the law if he enforced a law that was unconstutional. “An officer is obligated not to follow any unlawful order,” Cannon said.

During the press conference, Cannon dumped bullets out of a revolver and said: “The only way I can hurt you with this is if I hit you with it.”

Cannon also said banning assault weapons won’t guarantee the safety of students and blamed the “general erosion of morals and ethics in society” as the contributing factor to gun violence.

“Criminals don’t obey laws. They’re not going to turn in their 30-round magazines,” Cannon said.

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama unveiled the most sweeping proposals for curbing gun violence in two decades calling for universal background checks and bans on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines like the ones used in the Newtown, Conn., school shooting.

President Obama also used his presidential powers to enact 23 measures that don’t require the backing of lawmakers. The president’s executive actions include ordering federal agencies to make more data available for background checks, appointing a director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and directing the Centers for Disease Control to research gun violence.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Sheriff Cannon: I would be violating the law if I enforced unconstitutional law – The Post and Courier

The local opposition interview was from a young man who said the sheriff should resign if he would not follow the new federal laws. He also said he did not want to see people carrying AK-47's down the city streets of Charleston. That made a lot of sense...NOT!

I'm on the prowl for 9mm Colt, single-barrel & double-barrel shotguns, Henry US Survival Rifle .22, and Ruger DA revolver once when my piggy bank spruced up with coins.

curios - is there anything wrong with 9mm-version 1911?
