A 4-Wheels Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

hey highlander,
I thought you dont like a muscle car. How come? Learn it from me???

A muscle car will get RUST and out of control drive from my area for winter. No thanks. That's why I said it's perfect for southwest only.

giddy yup! I had to agree with you.

Southwest, west and northwest is great without rust.

South is OK but in Nor'easter rust is going like wildfire!

that's what he meant. We all figured you'd still drive Subaru for even southwest area

never thought you'd consider muscle car for southwest.

Here I paid $40 for a smog check on '03 SUV vehicle during title transfer. Sometimes there are specials like $19.95-$29.99 for non-suv or trucks that you can get on the savers.

$8 for certificate (CA)

Vehicles ~10 years or newer don't need smog check I believe.

Is $40 include certificate and ET? If so, cheap price. I wondered you show a smog tech a coupon? I hate coupons. I smogged 6 cars today and 4 coupons of them. Discount $10 dollars off of $59.95 reg. I didnt see any $19.95-$29.99 in a town. Maybe in gang infested area like LA. Good thing that I didnt work in a low income area. I saw the post on the wall of the dealership, quoted $99.95 when I picked up the parts. Whoa....
Vehicles..... 6 years or newer. Not 10 years, according to a smog check inspection manual

I learned a new trick for the DMV reg fees in CA.
If you "sell" your vehicle for a low price, your yearly vehicle registration fees are reflective of the price you sold/bought for.

Exact

So, if you wrote that you bought a vehicle for $30,000 on the title, easily $100+ to $200 registration fees. Newer Porsches run around $500+ this year for their costs.

More than $500+ on $30K. Based on the vehicle value and set registration fee. I saw $1,500 on the DMV workpapers when I verified the VIN for match on a newer Mercedes Benz (brought in from out of state). Lot money.

But, if say you had a family member like a brother, wife, etc. If you write the title that it "sold" it to them (or he sold it to you) for $10,000, you can slash your registration fees to under $100. Pretty cool.

True, no smog check inspection required on slidings's transfer, still requires
biannual smog checks

I only pay around $25-27 a week or so with my Honda Civic, pretty cheap to operate and it's very reliable. :)

Jillio, your Daewoo sounds like you got a good deal for a cheap transportation. I wonder how difficult it is to find parts for it....

1999 Saab 9-3. undriveable for now but can be drivable if fixed. but I want to get rid of it.

the local mechanic offered $200. any suggestion on how can I get the most bucks out of it?

Wirelessly posted (Samsung Epix (i907))

Try a reputable junkyard...they might pay more than that? It won't hurt to try checking.

a scrap metal dealer would give you more than $200 for it.

A junkyard offered 200 for a old 1994 heap of junk...so Jiro could get more than that.

Come to think about it....some other people are looking for hard to find parts...so it's probably worth more. Saab is rare in general.

Jiro, I remembered my friend want to rid of Jeep CJ7 due he become father and he can't afford to keeps three vehicles. So anywhere offered was too low price than he bought it. He have best friend who mechanic then he has apart EVERYTHING like body, suspension, engine, transmission, dashboard, light, door, etc from CJ7 then sell to ebay. He made a lot money from all of items than he bought vehicle as itself. It sound a lot of work but a lot of money. I can't remember how much price it was.
