Japan Earthquake - WHO

Should be in here somewhere. Sorry I couldn't get the exact place with my search.

:ty: x2. It is ok if it is not an exact. I can probably get enough from it to understand the magnitude. I am thinking that the air/ocean currents can potentially bring this to the Western United States, no?

That is what I understand, but dissipating as it comes.

From what I read the No. 2 reactor at Fukushima is of the greatest concern as even the Japanese authorities have not yet rated it yet on the nuclear disaster scale but the French authorities have rated it at a 7 which puts it on par with Three Mile Island.

I hope so. I'm not liking these talks of a global recession because of the possible collapse of the Japanese economy.

That was pretty much a given since last Friday. :/

The fire is out...at Three Mile Island, it was all contained. It was just a huge cleanup process.

In order for the radiation to hit the US, the fumes would have to go UP into the jet stream. I don't know how big the fire was or how long it burned...but I'm still not worried yet. It's a shitty situation, yup, but I'm not scouting out fallout shelters.

(If this gets bad, I'm just going to pfh's for a tinfoil party)

I'm not looking at fallout shelters either but I am concerned as Tyson sends a lot of poultry to Japan. Because of this disaster they could be cutting back on production which could mean no chickens in the chicken houses which means no job for me.

That's scary.

BTW - can I join you at PFH's tinfoil party?

:hmm: Just noticed this. Is it because you think Deaf/blind don't marry? I feel like back in the mainstream.

But luckily yes, and it has lasted 33 years so far.

She has turned into a troll ... just throw her in the iggy bin.

If this thread was about the massacre of unicorns and fairies, she would be concerned about that. :giggle:

logical fallacy.

Everything you have posted has been a logical fallacy. I am surprised you even know what a fallacy is as you have been posting nonsense about how no one should be worried.

I am a realist. It doesn't make me a nutbag. I have seen some of the worst disasters ... stuff you could never even imagine. I know what goes through people's minds when they are warned about it beforehand.

"It won't happen to me"

"Nothing to worry about"

Warning people is not fear mongering. The radiation levels are soaring ... the pacific jet stream WILL blow it across the Pacific. Fukushima has melted down. There are 4 other Nuclear Reactors in trouble. That means, we are ALL in trouble.

Please stop posting nonsense about how everything is peaches and cream. It isn't.

Then ... apologize to Bottesini, she is a very sweet person and her husband thinks so too.

 Botti, I'm sorry I'm late, Happy Anniversary! I was touched and pleased for you as I read of the gifts from your hubby:)
no matter what, remember that you are a good and kind person and am glad your husband is there for you:)

as far as Japan goes, I think the reality lies somewhere in between

um.... no.

I read that the tsunami went over a 33 ft tall seawall and flooded the low lying city. That's like New Orleans in a way. That seawall was designed to withstand tsunamis but it failed.

My guess is that the seawall is now holding the flood waters from escaping back to the ocean. :(
