Botts you have a point. Eggzilla has been good to me these last couple of weeks, so has Shelldon. I shouldn't eat them. I doubt I would even get $5 for them.

I thought you were going to hatch Shelldon? Did it prove unfertilized?I am still for the founding of a giant chicken race.

Oh..you'll never now what's going on in e-bay... some people want to feel the Eggzilla, to see the real size of it... seriously... there are crazy people who want to buy for $500 bucks...LOL

It wouldn't hurt to try. Put a reserve on it so they can't have it for nothing.

You know, I don't know if you remember this story about the "Jesus Bread" and when he toasted a bread and it came out with Jesus face on the bread... he sold it for $200 or something like that...

So, get the idea.

I don't think Shelldon will hatch as I've not turned him like I should. If eggs aren't turned, they won't hatch. Although I do have him in the right position. (pointy side down). Guinness no longer monitors 'largest animals', so that's a no-go. However it would be kinda nice to have a pet chicken that's got some extra body parts, which happens when a fertilized double-yolk egg hatches. I've seen a chicken with four complete feet.

So a giant mutant chicken race? Selecting for only giant, double yolked eggs?

I feel as if learning about Mendel in school will actually let me understand this.

And a video series on YouTube featuring the chickens.:hmm:

Maybe, but these are Tyson's chickens we're dealing with. However there is a way around that. Take one hen and one rooster and write them down as dead, I don't think they actually count the dead chickens in the freezer when they come to haul them off. We could easily chalk it up to a miscount.

Your aunt and uncle farm loaner chickens?

Pretty much. Why do you think we had Tyson execs at the farm yesterday and I nearly shit my pants when I drove up.

No idea. I am a complete novice in the world of chicken farming. :eek3:

You know things were bad at Tyson when our field tech comes in and I feel like I have a supervisor hanging over my shoulder even though she's not my 'boss' so to speak. Maybe it's the khaki uniform.

You used to work for Tyson and now have the human equivalent of bait aversion?

Maybe you will get hired by the USDA yet and be Tyson's nightmare. :fingersx:

Possibly to the bait aversion. I plan on re-applying to USDA in November specifically to the Tyson plant I had worked for as by then my year-long wait of 'being out of the plant' will be over. If I do not get hired for that position I will then try to get back on as a Trimmer. I'm finding I really need the insurance and benefits. But maybe the 6-day work weeks are just getting to me. I've not missed a day of work since I started in the second week of January. With it being family I am reluctant to ask for a day off other than my scheduled day off which is Sunday. I feel like I have a higher standard/work ethic I need to be meeting whereas at Tyson I was allowed up to 13 days off before termination. I would routinely work 90 days, receive a gift certificate to the chicken store for perfect attendance for 90 days then I'd take part of the 91st day off to go to the doctor or take my DD to the doctor or do something for school. I called in sick only 4 days the whole 18 months I was there.

I have a huge cat. She is about 35 lbs.

Before anybody gets upset with me -- let me explain. She is turning 7 this month. Since she was about 5 weeks old (when I first rescued her off a farm where her momcat disappeared -- some of you know the story) she has NEVER been a normal-sized cat. I want to think she's a cross-breed between a cat and some larger variety of cat! But unfortunately I don't think that's true, because she IS fat on top of being large-boned! I've had her at vet after vet after vet, and no amount of vet-prescribed meds or diets have changed her weight whatsoever. She is still on her diet.

Having said all that, I checked into GWR and was planning to submit an app for the largest domestic cat (I think I would have lost - I think I saw something larger, closer to 40 lbs) but they said they no longer accept apps for the "largest" or "smallest" animal because they think owners over-feed or under-feed in order to make records. I totally understand that and respect that, completely. So my cat is not in the GWB.

I think some of you have seen my infamous cat-in-sink photo. This is when she was NINE months old. Already overflowing the sink.

I should be grateful, and I am, that my other 4 cats do NOT follow in her footsteps.

Oddly enough, I find it fascinating that I learn there are still wonderful people out there that can make me laugh to no end :D

Just learned that one of my friend's twin son died tonight. I never know what to say when my friends lose their children.
:( Maybe just a "I'm here if you want/need to talk" ?

I learn....

Yayayay..... College Spring Break!!!!

Return class on March 21! :dance2:

That I can wake up about the same time every morning regardless of how late I go to bed

BottesinI; What not into chicken farming? Sorry your herd of hounds can't chase chickens around thus won't be disturbing your quiet life. A moment of silence for your Eggzilla fan club.
Relax in the rocking Chair and ponder your "good luck"--quiet herd!

 You know in the city, I think they will let you keep six chickens for eggs. But due to a childhood incident with a neighbor's Easter chick, who grew into a big Rooster, I am terrified of chickens.
