When I visited nursing homes with my Grandma, we would bring our cats along sometimes, as pets do cheer them up a lot.

No Mark, it's because you don't know when to shut it... it's because you have to have the last word and also, you're a drama queen. You always have to have the last word and can't walk away from something. When you can't have the last word and start to get too butt hurt, you have the thread locked like a cry baby. :cry: :tears:

Yoda, I believe everyone in their lives have regrets. Hell, I'm 27 and I have regrets. I'm sure I will always reflect back on them. Even now at 27 I catch myself looking back now and again thinking "Damn, why did I do that!?! It was so STUPID!!!" I suspect the elderly are no different. However, I sincerely doubt all of them have regrets, however you did address that you believe that not all of them do. Still a comment worded rather badly in general... I can definitely see why many people were peeved... I can't say I didn't jaw drop at it myself. :shock: Sometimes if you encounter someone in a bad mood, you just have to place yourself in their shoes. Hell, if I had to wake up early with deteriorating health feeling like god knows what and having to work ( many of them have to because our retirement SUCKS these days lets face it ) ( Lets also face as we get older our bodies don't function as they used to! ) I'd probably not be sunshine and rainbow sprinkle time party fun mood either! :(

Usually monthly, I make it a point to visit an elderly home in the area to spend some time getting to know the people inside and talking to them. Usually, they enjoy the company and just want someone to talk to and are lonely. :)

If you haven't noticed-- none of my current threads have been locked as of late, and plus, there's a thread above warning members NOT to harass me. Since then, things have gotten better, but I still have to watch myself, though.

No, just the one on Thursday, which was 4 days ago... Which is still recently. I wasn't harassing you, I was pointing out the obvious like everyone else. You were also instructed to be an adult and not pay attention to peoples comments and to grow up if I recall correctly. :hmm: I am not harassing you, I am talking you you like an adult. In case you didn't know, the definition of harassment is aggressive pressure or intimidation. I am not pressuring you nor intimidating you. I am not threatening you in any way, either.

So basically everyone else on this forum messes with everyone else all the time, but you are the ONLY ONE in need of a thread started to have people stop "messing" with you? Can't handle the adult world there Mark? If you can't stand people talking to you like an adult maybe you should not be in adult areas like the internet. Maybe you should handle your issues like and adult and stop whining to MOD's every time someone cracks a little harmless joke. Everyone is tired of it. And no, none of the MOD's have told me anything, ( Before you go starting a hell-storm with that or something ) it's just inherently obvious when they have to start threads or post comments constantly... We're not retarded.

So I noticed. I've been working on that, and trying to learn the difference between sarcasm and joking, and I may not be all the way there, but I have made a LITTLE progress-- not enough to know any better just yet, but I'll get there if I keep practicing recognizing jokes and sarcasm. It'll take time and patience, but I have hopes that I can have a normal time here in good time. I just need to be patient and learn the process.

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't believe you've gotten better at all!!! To be the only member to have to have a thread started to have members aware to "stop messing with you" when we do the same to each other?! Really!?! That's getting better? No, that's getting worse... You've been "working on this" crap since you've been here Mark. Every time someone gets onto you or complains about this you get quiet for a few days and then it's back to the same old same old. Quite frankly, I see this as a few day hiatus and you'll be back to complaining to MOD's, having threads locking, posting annoying pointless threads nobody cares about, posting terrible bad news all day, inserting the last possible comment in every possible last argument you can and posting as many possible comments to get your posting amounts up as high as humanly possible as you have over 5500 in the short amount of time you've been here. Every time you say this, it's seriously about 3 - 5 days and everything goes back to normal. This is probably the 10th time you've said this... Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, shame on me... Fool me after that.... well I'm just stupid... :roll: Again, this is like... time 10 or... 15... or something like that... I've stopped counting... or caring.... for that matter... I stop caring after being lied to so many times. So yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.... :roll: Pardon me while I go wait to see it start raining marshmallows and pixiesticks over a rainbow with golden coins coming out of the ground for free! :roll:

I swore that after the last time things went bad that I was going to make it a priority to do better, and you may not believe me, which is fine, but I haven't had to complain to the mods lately, and that's because I realized that they were probably getting tired of it, and I needed to learn to handle myself a little better and more professionally, and just learn to deal with it as time goes along. I have, at least, refrained from complaining the last few days, and need to learn to deal with it, as I've never been to a forum prior to finding this site. That's why I wasn't used to it.

Nobody ever "has" to complain to the mods. I've gone some pretty ugly rounds with posters before and tattletaling never crossed my mind. Ever.

Exactly... I have never thought about ever going and whining to a MOD about anything... that seriously reminds me of being in pre-school and running up to your teacher crying and whining that the kid across from you pushed you and stole your dolly.... :laugh2: seriously, that's exactly what it's like.... :shock:

Just a heads up, one item to learn is the difference between harassment and joking. We can't be serious 100% of the time and it's not healthy either to be constantly serious and negative.

For example, the infamous pooping joke, we were just being silly and having fun with you. If we wanted to harass you we'd bring up bad memories from your childhood like your mother, bullying, etc... The intention with the pooping was just have some laughs not to insult you or make you feel bad.

Yeah, but one problem-- the pooping thing DID bring back a bad memory-- the time I passed gas at Camp Lion, and got in a sh*tload of trouble for it. Otherwise all is cool.

I know that poop story brought up bad memories for me too... One time, at band camp... I had to go... and I was taking a test... and it was quiet... and I farted... and I got detention for doing it during a test... because it's a natural bodily function that we have no control over doing... you know? so yeah, I had detention all year over it... :roll:
