Thinking the mods are busy these last few days with all these spam posts showing up.

I am feeling little bit better. I think it is just a sprain.

it took a couple of weeks for my foot to feel after banging 3 toes into a doorway . I guess my bones are stronger than I thought . I really banged my foot good.

Attended a funeral this morning for my uncle. He was buried with full military honors. He served in WW II as a radioman. He was the last surviving brother of my dad's, it was a family of 5 siblings. Beautiful day for their service and the honor guard was very nice.

Thinking about my post yesterday. My husband and I were doing the math--my uncle was in the Navy in WWII at 18 years old and that was 1944, so it was near the end of the war. And given that he was 90 when he passed this past week, there can't be a lot of WW II vets left.

There are more than you would think, I was surprised at the statistics of remaining vets. Approximately 855,070 (recently evaluated). They are dying at the rate of around 492/day.

Condolences on the passing of your uncle.

my dad was in the Navy from 1942 to 1945 as fire fighter in World War II. He passed away in about 5 years ago. heres my condolence of your uncle.

Thank you, Annie and Moondancer. I'm surprised at the 855k still remaining, wow. But the 492/day doesn't really surprise me.

It was a beautiful service. His death was sudden, he had a stroke last Saturday and never regained consciousness. He passed in his sleep 3 days later.

Thinking about this Wednesday and curious how everything will sound once activated.

Yea, got surgery for a CI a few weeks ago. I dont expect much. Just want them to help me with lipreading. My hearing level dropped to the point where I wasnt hearing much from hearing aids. Reallllly was upset about it because I hate surgery and was terrified from my bad experience but lipreading without sounds gives me headaches and burns my eyes. So, I did it because of my job with nobody using ASL. Oh well. I am not the kind of person to write a blog or announce stuff like that to everyone. Just a few friends. I dont want people to expect much from it and expect me to become a hearing person. It could or could not work.

I got upset when my mother in law said she is excited that I will become "hearing". I told her that it wont be any different and that I will still need to have people face me. Geez!

No biggie. Really.

Wow! I did not know that. I hope it is everything you hope it to be. Let us know it turns out! Congrats on getting through the surgery well. :)

Activated yesterday. Really? The world is that noisy?????!!!!!!!

I do NOT like how people's voices sound.

Yep, it's a noisy world. But your brain will get used to it plus get used to people's voices. Hang in there.

Thinking how stressful this move is.
What to keep, what to get rid of.
For stuff to get rid of, best way in the short time I have. And no, yard sale is not an option.
Can't wait till Oct 1 when everything move-wise will be settled.

You have been assimilated resistance was futile! :D

Bare with it the sounds will improve and yes its a noisy noisy world. Beware of car horns in close proximity they still make me jump out of my skin.

Have you been over to the Hearing Aids & Cochlear Implants section yet? There are a lot of posts there about adjusting to new implants and the mapping process over time. There are a good deal of reminders of how what it sounds like changes with practice, mappings and time.

Wow! Interesting that it's that noisy :)

I have heard the same about voices and music. I think your mappings, over time, will get you better on that. (Just based off what I've read on this forum.)

Good luck with everything, have patience :)
