Schizoeffective is when they have similar symptoms to schizophrenia but can be in a sense "cured" right? Or do i have it wrong?

No, schizoaffective is when they have all the signs of schizophrenia but have a mood disorder as well such as bipolar disorder or something. They USUALLY don't have full blown schizophrenia but exhibit signs of schizophrenia.

I misspelled it above, it's schizoAffective... that makes me sad... Stupid rapid typing...

No disorder such as bipolar, schizophrenia, schizoaffective or anything like these can be cured... ever. We take Topamax and sh*t for life to maintain them. :D Usually 2+ meds depending on what you have and how severe...

Lol. I saw the misspelled word but forgot it. Thanks. Aith "cured" i meant use medications. But yeah none of those are fun. In my dad's side 6 of his siblings have bipolar disorder you can imagen how fun that is.

Oh I know.... it's a fun time... that's what fun time medications are for. :D Let us not forget the years it takes of putting you on and off medications to find that correct combination of ones that actually works. Rarely are you given medications at the start that makes you feel just dandy right off the bat. ( Actually, you never feel just dandy, so that's a total lie! ) Usually mood disorders ( especially schizophrenia / schizoaffective ) are hereditary... so it's no surprise that your fathers side would have multiple members with the same disorder. Untreated.... they're not a good time. As long as they're seeking treatment, the people can usually lead fully productive lives. Untreated... well..... :ugh: :laugh2: They're always coming out with new stuff. Hell, maybe one day they'll be able to cure it... however right now as it stands we have no clue what exactly causes it... so it's kind of hard to cure something when they can't pin point exactly what causes it. :laugh2: Could be this, could be that, could be this too... Oh wait, it also could be this! :laugh2: let us not forget, it could be a combination of all of these! :laugh2: A cure, I don't see in my lifetime at least. :P Maybe one day though, possibly. :dunno:

Let me chime in here for a bit. My Dad, when he's angry, has a violent temper, and yes, he's been arrested before for it. I've always suspected he had what I did, but he never treated it, while I did. Now I no longer have violent outbursts, while he still does. Makes me sad, really.

Only one takes meds the others.... And the rest have depression. They havent had a manic episode or not one that as gone detected. So yup... Lots of fun x_x

Mania is only bad for the persons bank account and potentially STD's really... :laugh2: Mania is the least worry of bipolar to have. :D You become productive. Sure, you can be a little too frivolous with your bank account and a little too promiscuous but that's not everyone... :laugh2: All in all mania is the least terrible part of bipolar. :P It's the depression or anger that is the terrible part of it. :ugh: I'd kill to be in a constant state of mania are you kidding me! You sleep like two hours a day and feel like you slept 10, can work for like 20 hours and feel GREAT about it, talk forever with someone about crap you'd slap them for on any other day and go home and STILL clean your house with a toothbrush and smile while you do it! :laugh2: In all seriousness though, mania is the least bad part of bipolar... it's just like being in an unusually good mood essentially. It can have sooooome consequences... but nothing like the other parts of bipolar...

Lol. Im going to put you in a room with my aunts and uncles. But you right for most part the manic episode is not the bad one. There is occasions its pretty bad but rarely worst than the depression.

Oh PUHLUEASE! Putting me in rooms full of people is a bad decision in the first place when I can't understand them, adding in the fact they're going to be moody like me too is just asking for the next murder spree to occur... :laugh2:

Oh gosh....... reminds me of the time I burned a popcorn bag and tripped the fire alarm, which brought out the Northbrook Fire Department. I was so embarrassed I wanted to dig a hole and never been seen again.
