Thanks but that's not an inclusive list of allowed stuff. Mark made it seem that unless your possession is not on a specific "allowed" list that you can't bring it. Like, is it allowed to carry a pair of lime green tennis shoes size 4 in a blue plastic bag? ;)

I'm saying if a customer sees me with a cracked tablet, they reserve the right to complain about it, and in reality, most people who bring electronics on buses do not do so with a cracked screen. It's just common sense not to.

In my opinion complaining about someone's cracked tablet is not common sense. It would make them seem nosy and grumpy. Bringing along your own entertainment which won't be loud when on a train is common sense.

Get some clear tape and stick it over the crack to travel proof it.

You worry about every little thing in this world! Chance of that happening is very slim.

There is that. I rarely travel with my tablet on CTA property, anyhow. More comfortable doing that on the Metra, as I know if I got robbed, the person wouldn't get far.

I have to be thoughtful to others. I am a klutz when it comes to handling fragile stuff, and I've dropped my tablet and broken a couple, and this one is on the verge of breaking if it gets dropped again, as I had to snap it together, and with a cracked glass and me being a klutz, it's wiser to leave it at home, and bring one with no cracked glass.

Imo as long as you don't bother people they're not gonna care about a crack on your tablet. I've been on the train system here in atlanta and have seen people use phones with cracked screens and nobody cares.

That's probably true, but thing is, I easily forget to turn off my volume on this tablet, so probably best to leave it here, because my phone is already on vibrate anyways, so it wouldn't bother people.

I would complain about another rider reading over my shoulder--invasion of privacy. My tablet screen is none of their business.

Of course, because other riders are nosey, I probably wouldn't be using my tablet in public like that. Also, I prefer to stay aware of my environment.

Have you considered using heavy-duty covers for your devices, and maybe even using wrist tethers for them?

I actually have one for my cellphone. That's the reason it's never been damaged.

More reason to ride a bicycle-- keeps the noses away.

I hope you aren't using a tablet while you're bike riding. :)

No, just my phone, and only in extreme emergencies. Otherwise, it stays put so I can focus.

Mark you need to get outdoors and get some natural vitamin D happening. The skin on your forehead and the backs of your hands/wrists are primary places where the body metabolizes it from sunlight. A brisk walk at noontime on the sunny side of the street into the sun. Even if it is overcast and crap there is enough patooties in the light to do you some good. No gloves, no hat.
