Well, that was awkward!

You don't really want to compare Obama gaffes to Bush's do you?:D

I guess you have never locked yourself out of your house or your car. Oh, well. He's human. At least he is able to laugh at himself. Much preferable to others' ways of dealing with their gaffes.

I think Bush is a space alien. Why else would he say "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully?"

I like that. It shows the world that our President is more in touch with common people and that our President is just like rest of us.

I guess you prefer an elitist who is completely out of touch with the society?
One doesn't need to be "elite" to know how to behave during a national anthem. :)

If it's OK to post those gaffes (and it is), then why not post Obama's gaffes?

It is! Anytime people in power screw up, it should be mentioned. (That's why I posted on my Facebook a link to the comment about Pelosi's latest bundle of shit, with her deliberately misleading statistics on presidential debt.)

I would certainly know to not keep talking when the host's national anthem is playing!

Maybe he needs a new protocol chief who can do a better job of advising the President. :dunno:

Perhaps. I doubt he'll make that mistake again.

Obama bash 3,861,425. You're predictable.

I think some of us found it funny because we've made similar mistakes with people we're trying to impress while others find it funny because they have nothing but contempt for that person so they take every chance that they can find to put the person down in other people's eyes. I'm sure it's clear on which side of the camp that some posters are on.

Yep. Let me go ahead and say Post Removed because I am champing at the bit.

No but it takes an elitist OR a bully to make fun of someone who committed a faux pas.

Does anyone else find the bowing and scraping to a descendent of former royalty odd in this day and age? The queen doesn't have any real power. She's just rich.

Did you ever stop to think that had Obama's gaffe not been posted, these would not have been, either? Cause and effect is a bugger!

Well, she's more than just rich. She's the head of state of Great Britain and the Commonwealth, the oldest and staunchest ally of the U.S. She has real power, but the paradox is that she doesn't dare use all of it.

I don't consider anything Obama did bowing and scraping, at all. Is that what you meant, his being there specifically, or just generally?

She has a great deal of influence but I would not call her powerful since she is not a politician. Thankfully we are not living in the days when the King's word was law or in this case, the Queen's word is law.

Actually it is the Queen's word (the Royal Assent) that makes any bill passed by Parliament become law. The Royal Assent has not been denied since 1707; still, there it is, the Sovereign must assent to make a bill a law.

She isn't powerful in the same way as politicians; she is above politics and represents Britain in a way that Prime Ministers and other politicians who come and go never do.

Just taught my 5th graders about the people who established America and how they wanted to be free from the King. Many of my students thought that it was wrong for one person to rule a country. Cute!

Wow! The Queen mother is a superhero!
