So, then it's okay to kill innocent civilian Iraqis that are unarmed like our US military is doing over there? It's okay to kill them to save us a dollar per gallon of gasoline and cheap oil? :bsflag:

Oh now you want to play politics, let me tell you the real deal Saddam and his henchmen tourtured , gassed and killed , cruelly threw people in prison. The left wing media does not want you to know that.... and it suddenly hit me ... the liberals support the evil man at all costs and the conservatives support the righteous man at all costs... Wow !!!! That is a real eye opener plus before you complain about Bush ... remember Bush was not around when Saddam rose to power and started killing his own men in positions of power...... Remember that one !!!!!! Get it !!!!!

I do not know who Jim Elliot is but I would have to follow up on the internet what the story is before I can comment.

Yeah, you best do that, then pop your chops. If you knew Church History, especially during the 20th century, you'd know who he was in a heartbeat. His widow, now remarried, has a radio program. His story, along with the rest of the young missionaries is in a book, titled, Through Gates of Spendor and you can get it at your local Christian bookstore. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/discerning/througgatofs.html There are other books about Jim Elliot and the others that were there...Madg Sinclare, all of them. I highly recommend reading it during Christmas break. Then you'll see God's justice...guess what...it's beautiful, too! :)

What naiveness!

You must be really gullible and would believe anything "bad" about the liberals.

Reba.....Yes, he killed four people, BUT that was gangland stuff. Itwas not serial killer stuff. If he hadn't been in the whole gangland violence to survive/suceed mode, he probaly never would have killed anyone. WHen I say serial killer, I mean people like Ted Bundy or folks who kill for the heck of it.

Here is the article you are talking about?

http://www.hyperhistory.net/apwh/bios/b4jelliot6ra.htm

It does not always work that way in real life... sometimes it is better to be alive to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I will not be brainwashed by what people say. You have to study the Holy Bible for yourself. I have very strong beliefs and from what I have experienced in life.

Jazzy,

Then you must not know what Luke 6:36 says.

How about Romans 12:19.

Maybe God shouldn't have mercy on you for your sins, would you like that? God owes us humans NOTHING. He sent His only begotten Son for us, not because He was bored and needed something to do.

Lastly, do you know for sure this man's heart?

I did not ask God to have a mercy on me nor shall this man who was responsible for thousand deaths still to this day. How do I know man's heart? What about u? He was a cold blood murderer which took the life of others, u tell me his heart changed? Not to me. He is still a murderer to me.

First of all Banjo, why are the liberals trying to support an evil man who does not want to TRULY REPENT AND TRULY FACE THE VICTIMS OF THE FAMILIES AND SAY I AM SORRY TO THEIR FACES?

Second, the more the liberals get into all quarters of American society , life and moral values ... the more corrupted you will see of liberals. The liberals support abortion, My God !!!! :nono: Liberals support Homosexuality :barf: Liberals are becoming Anti-christ and support no Ten Commandments and ban Holy Bible , Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.A.

( You live in Canada would you want liberals to rip the Pledge of Allegiance of Canada I think it goes O'Canada? from you ??? )

That is why I am soooooooooo angry with the liberals and keep catching the liberals trying to manipulate and twist things around and Thank God the jowling liberals are being stopped !!!!!!!!!!!! The American people are waking up and starting to hate the liberals for what they stand up for... Liberals are UN-AMERICAN AND UN-CHRISTIAN !!!!!

The more I get angry about the sly and evil liberals the more I see of liberalism the liberals are a sell out to American values , way of life the liberals do not want you to know they actively work with socialists and communists openly at first.... DID YOU KNOW THAT? That is the liberal agenda's modus operandi.

Nobody's saying the victims of the families shouldn't be comforted and be the witnesses to justice being served. The justice to them was served by having the man put into the prison for his crimes. However, putting the person to death isn't justice being served. It's revenge, nothing more and it rarely satisfies the victims to see the murderers put to death.

Second, the more the liberals get into all quarters of American society , life and moral values ... the more corrupted you will see of liberals. The liberals support abortion, My God !!!! :nono: Liberals support Homosexuality :barf:

Many liberals doesn't support abortions while many support abortions. They are fairly split on that topic. Personally, I don't support abortions unless it's absolutely necessary in dangerous situations such as the parent being in peril of dying from a medical condition related to the fetus, which is rare.

Corruption has been always around, it isn't getting any worse. Nothing stays the same ever, good things happen, bad things happen. Now, people involved with homosexuality is none of your business. Nor is it mine, it's a sexual orientation. That's all there is to it and I don't believe it should be outlawed because it doesn't affect anybody but the people who practice it themselves.

Liberals are becoming Anti-christ and support no Ten Commandments and ban Holy Bible , Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S.A.

Anti-Christ? What nonsense!

You are totally wrong on the Liberals and the Pledge of Allegiance. Nobody is trying to ban the Holy Bible, but it does not belong in the government. You have to remember that. The moral values may be rooted in Christian Principles but America is a huge melting pot. The Holy Bible has no business being in the government. The USA has gone through so many changes and there's so many different cultures blending into the American culture whether you like it or not.

If you try to preserve the "Culture" of America, then you're acting just like the French government and look where they are now.

In no way are the Liberals trying to ban the Pledge of Allegiance, what they want to see gone is the "Under God" verse because it doesn't belong there. It wasn't there till the 1950s when the Red Scare was such a big deal in America. It was added to the pledge for purely political reasons, nothing more. You have to look into the history of the pledge, it should go back to its original version, not the revised version.

( You live in Canada would you want liberals to rip the Pledge of Allegiance of Canada I think it goes O'Canada? from you ??? )

I am a moderate Liberal, and the National Anthem of Canada has been revised several times through the years. It've been O' Canada for years, but would I care if it was revised again? Not really, and I haven't sung it for years. It's not that special to tell you the truth. However, I do value the Canadian flag very much.

To look into the history of the national anthem, click on the link below;

No, you are angry with yourself. You have issues to iron out, and it certainly isn't the liberals. It's the hatred inside you that is eating away at you. I don't believe there is such a thing as being Un-American unless it's a physical threat toward the people of America for just being American citizens.

You are being the Anti-Christ by your own definition by passing judgment onto the Liberals.

The more I get angry about liberals the more I see of liberalism the liberals are a sell out to American values , way of life the liberals do not want you to know they actively work with socialists and communists openly at first.... DID YOU KNOW THAT?

You are obviously brainwashed when it come to the concepts of communism and socialism. The Red Scare brought out a lot of Anti-Communist Propaganda. Canada is a Socialist/Democratic country and one of the best countries in the whole world to live in according to many people. You need to get your head straightened out and stop spewing out all sorts of crap and misinformation.

I see that my point got missed about the nature of repentance. The way I understand it, if one is truly repentant, it means that person understands the gravity of what he/she has done and will accept the punishment for it without a fight...especially if they come to understand what prolonging the battle does to further hurt the people they have wronged. I'm not sure this understanding is very common anymore.

Sometimes God may intervene to help someone who repents in this way by allowing the people wronged to ask that the death sentence be commuted in the case of such a complete good-faith surrender. But in all likelihood, that's probably not going to happen because there is still the debt to be paid to society--physical life for physical life. The way it seems to me is, if one has truly repented and experiences God's forgiveness, then even the death penalty becomes only a temporary pain because the soul of the forgiven will be welcomed into eternal life. This is why although I do support the death penalty because I don't think we can risk having murderers and rapists getting the chance to do it again, I take no joy in executions. I see it as a sad necessity when all else to deter people before they act fails. So I pray that such people will seek and find forgiveness so that their eternal soul is spared.

I don't know this man's heart. I hope he does find eternal peace. But I just do not think that it would be right to give people like this a chance to take more lives--or to encourage and teach others to do it.

What about the victim's eternal peace? Everybody is loud on the bad guy but strangely silent on the victim's side??? You tell me and while I agree with the rest of Rose Immortal's posting... actually it is a good posting .... I am serious Rose Immortal's posting is good stuff :thumb: !!!!!

My point is this is that nobody even gives a fraction of a thought towards the victim's families.

Obviously I'd like the victims find peace, too--I guess I figured that was a given I didn't even need to state (and kinda included in what I said about how it affects others to prolong the fight against punishment). My bad. :(

Not your bad .... you are human and I am human and everybody is human. I can't read your mind to even begin with. I only go by what you say and Thank you Rose Immortal :)

He enjoyed killing them. He didn't have to kill them to survive. That is nonsense.

I can't believe you can just brush off their murders that way.

It disgusts me how little those innocent lives mean to you. You must have a heart of stone. :cold:

There you go again, making a judgement call.
What about the civilian casualties in Iraq and other countries where we as a supposedly Christian nation make our murderous point? Iraq is FULL of depleted uranium, which practivally KILLS that country for many generations to come. Never mind our own troops come home with health problems, the convenient thing to do is to deny them health benefits.
How can one say that Jesus supports death by mindlessly saying that by dying, he supports it? That is NUTS. So yeah, yeah, you can argue that Death is supported by Jesus neglecting to say something about those dying beside him, but hey, he did say that those without sin to cast the first stone.
Can any one of us make a comment? No doubt the crazy crazy zealots do.

"Gang signs" are not a language. They're simply hand gestures, much like that that a sports team's fans will use.

You're glad that someone who reformed himself and spoke out against youth in gangs was executed? Are you aware Stanley Williams was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for authoring of anti-gang children's books? He even renounced his affiliation with the Crips gang. All through this, he still maintained his innocence. I'd advise you in renting the movie, "Redemption," starring Jamie Fox.

Don't forget that Yasser Arafat, a dead PLO (Palestine Liberation
Organization) leader, killed many Jews in Israel. He won a Noble Peace
Prize in 1994! What a joke! I don't have any respect to the "Peace"
category anymore, but enjoyed the respect of Science and Engineering prizes.

Good point!

Ummmm, sometimes you need to step back and look at the nig picture. When Reagan was Prez, his administration flooded our country with cocaine to fund the Contra operations in Central America. Tookie was caught up in it, and in my opinion, Bush Sr. and Oliver North should have been executed alongside Tookie. Too bad there is no way to bring Reagan back to life so he could be executed as well.

I'm not for Capital Punishment either - executing a convict won't ever bring back any of those victims of the crimes committed.
You know that the executions in the State of California are funded by us - yes, US taxpayers...there's another interesting thing it's cheaper having a Death Row convict transfer to 'For-Life' prison with no chance of parole, rather than killing them. Strange, but true.

Only if the execution-style would change to something cheaper such as a firing squad or hanging.

I just believe that Capital Punishment is barbaric.

You're asking the wrong person. My family has had its share of death by violence. Yet in all that, we have never pushed for the death penalty for those people who have killed members of the family - we have asked for life in prison without parole.

Remember the 6th Commandment: Thou shalt not kill.

Yeah, I don't understand Christians who support death penatly. I saw their posts in other threads... :dunno:

Christians claimed that they do everything what the bible says but death penatly...
