The next big storm?

I wouldn't think that forecasting two weeks in advance could be reliable given how quickly things can change. Accurate up to a few hours would make more sense.....

Yeah the weather can really change on the coast , we had storms get blown out to sea or become worst because of the ocean effect.

I've been there before-- getting snow in April. Not pleasant.

I remember one year, we had a snow storm on April 1st....no one was laughing either. No fun....absolutely no fun....just when you thought it was spring, they pull you back into winter....

I've done it twice..... last time was several yeas ago *knocks on wood* Hopefully it won't happen this year, cause if it does, that means we're in for a year of whacky weather.

My husband took me on a birthday trip to Virginia Beach on the weekend of my birthday. Mind you, my birthday is on April 14th. Guess what, it snowed on that Saturday. The beach was covered in snow..it was a sight I will never forget..waking up and looking out my hotel window to be surprised by seeing big fat snowflakes falling hard. We didn't expect that at all and I was so UPSET but we tried to make the best of it as there was nothing we could do about it. I told my husband next time to get a hotel with an indoor pool so we could go swimming.

That was 7 years ago and we haven't gone since. Now, we are going there again for my birthday this April in our RV. I better have some sunny and warm weather!!!

I remember college exams, trying to get to them in snow <I walked or sometimes biked on campus - didn't know how to drive then>.
One year we had Spring exams, it was snowing...it was June.

Wasn't that 1979? I remember my grandma telling me about that.

Now it's 5 with a Wind Chill Advisory. The National Weather Service says that after 9 PM tonight the wind chills will be 20 below zero, and during the overnight hours, it'll be anywhere between 22-28 below zero. This is expected to end at daybreak tomorrow. And the Real Feel says it feels like -5.

What made it so bad? I was only 6 years old and living in the Valley of the Sun at the time.

I found a utube of the snow dumped from that storm . I was living in California at the time but my mom said it was very bad in her town. The weather reporters will use the 78 storm as example of a 'bad' storm .

I heard people could not get out of their houses because the snow was so deep . According the utube that city got 27 inches of snow. That is a lot of snow.

Thanks for the video! I did a google search on it and clicked on images. During the blizzards of Dec '09, Jan '10 and Feb '10, Baltimore got a total of 81 inches. My area looked like just like the areas in the video you posted.

I wonder if we thought the snow storms where so bad as kids because we where so short.

We are thinking of going to the beach this weekend. I want to walk on the beach since that didn't get to happen in Maui. Today we hit the mid 70's. Sad because we are having a drought but hard not to enjoy weather like this.

Hope all of you with snow keep warm and be safe.

It is still cold here at 34 degrees F. I am living on the highest mountain mesa Santa Fe from Albuquerque. Cloudy, no snow. It would be nice if I have warmer weather. :(

It won't be long before we will all be complaining about the heat. I like cold weather, drinking hot tea, cuddle with my dog with a nice blanket. I don't know if I would enjoy the cold weather that most of you are having though.

As of now, its 45° and to many of you would be relief. Not so in Tampa, to some it's an arctic blast! Hilarious, but I guess it ultimately falls on depending where you're standing...
