SO agreed with you on HA's! Husband's first job out of school actually purchased his for him because they thought was needed for the job. In college he did not wear HA's and he had note-takers. Second pair he purchased through HSA - Health Savings Account - from his previous job. Insurance:mad:

awwwww i am dying to hear for your choice of writing about the insurance companies. I don't blame you for not wanting to be banned again once you were out for a whole month. oh no! Well i know that i will never change my insurance company minds. Obviously, we DEAF/HEARING LOSS people need to make object lists about having hearing aids BACK. When i was growing up, my dad's insurance covered it for my hearing aids about 80 percents and had my parents pay only 20 percents. That really helped a lot.

Yes, you are right. Insurance companies used to be more willing to cover HAs until CI. Now they think that the CI will be more cost effective in the long run. It's all about money. Plus, insurance companies are directly tied to the medical industry, and we all know that the medical view favors CI over HA.

I thought the insurance bill was passed not long ago covering hearing aid maybe it was for Arkansas only? hmm?

Yeah, different states have different regulations regarding what insurance companies must cover.

that explains ok. i was told that premiums would go up too. oh joy!

ARRRRGGGG! Raising premiums to cover HA! They act like everyone is going to run out and get one just because they cover them! Most of the people subscribing to insurance are hearing! Covering HA for their deaf/hoh subscribers will not raise their costs overall!

i havent thought of that. hmm you are right. yeah but there are some hearing people who are going deaf and need hearing aids? too many loopholes.. sigh

Yeah, and there are some insurance companies that will cover age related hearing loss, but not congenital (from birth) hearing loss because they say it is a "pre-existing condition." Way too many loopholes!!

Dang! Been a busy day!

Anyhoo. Daughter got glasses. They will be ready in two weeks. She only needs them for reading. Her eyes are in good shape.

It was hilarious seeing my daughter with her eyes dilated! Looked like big ol' puppy eyes. And when her eyes were getting back to normal one pupil, was a lot bigger than the other. Then dropped her off at a Birthday party. Me and my son hung around town for the rest of the day til it was time to pick up my daughter.

I was proud of myself.. I went to Wal-mart and only spent $50 bucks. :giggle: Usually I end up spending more!!

Well, its good to know that she only needs her glasses for reading. It won't be such a stuggle to get her to wear them. Tell her what my mom told me when I had to get them in the 4th grade..."If you don't wear them to read, your eyes will get worse faster, and you will have to wear them all the time." I ended up having to wear them all the time before I was in 7th grade anyway, but at least it worked to get me to wear them when I was reading like I was supposed to, lol.

Hope you had fun with your mother-son time! And only $50 at Wally World? I'm proud of you, girl! I go in to pick up paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent, and laundry detergent, and end up spending about $100 every time! I just can't seem to stick to the list!:giggle:

Wow. Its been ages for me to check in. I've been busiest with work, focus on my health, and family. Its been craziest in few weeks.

What's up with this forums? Anything special?

I've got a few choice words concerning the insurance companies not covering HAs, but I'm afraid if I said them, I'd end up getting banned again!

Well - I can understand where you are coming from. I mean, I can see that you're very passionate about this subject. Sometime it isn't easy to stay away from any subject that is so passionate to you, eh? :)

I know, I sometime can be that way too, ha.

I know. i thought their posts seem OK to me. maybe i missed when it did happen while i logged off last night.

I'm back!!

I totally still disagree with the ban and so do some others. I thought we were allowed to express our opinions on here but obviously we're not.

I wish i lived in america as you all seem to get better HA's and stuff. You practically are able to tell them what you want in the USA and you get it but in UK its totally not like that.

I am pretty sure some of us think, it would be great if we lived in the UK and just got the HA with no paying.

I am still paying for the set I am wearing.

Yes but you Americans seem like you get better quality of HA and CI care

Paint fumes are filling up my house..not helping with my hang over!
