I often just begin to fall to one side when I'm walking or standing, and I put my hand against the wall. People think I'm sleepy when I do that.
Are you serious?

Are you serious?Do all deaf people experience this or do you just have a particulary extreme case?

well everyone,
i've made up my mind as far as my left wrist is concerned. it's really starting to bother me again today (i woke up with my fingers feeling completely numb). i've also had a shock-like pain shooting up my elbow several times yesterday.
therefore, i've decided to have surgery. there are two kinds of surgery for carpal tunnel -- open release and endoscopic. i'm going to ask if i can have endoscopic since the recovery time is much faster and the incision made in the wrist isn't as large as it is for open release surgery.
however, i've also decided to attend physical therapy until my surgery date. i figure it can't hurt.
in the meantime, i'll continue to keep all of you posted as to how i'm doing.
Oh wow..that stinks. :| Hopefully, your condition will improve.
yeah, it does suck.from what i've heard, 70% of people who have carpal tunnel surgery are quite happy with the results and are able to achieve full use of their hand several months after surgery. of course, there is also the possibility that surgery will not completely eliminate the numbness, weakness, burning or tingling, but the way i see it, i have nothing to lose. my doctor said the same thing to me and thinks i should give it a try. yesterday I called my neurologist's office for an appointment, so hopefully they will get back to me sometime today.
My co-worker has carpal tunnel too. I don't know if she's had surgery or not, but she sometimes wears a splint when she's typing. Wear and tear after 25 years of sitting at a keyboard, she says.
I know exactly how that feels on both counts. I hope you're feeling better soon!
Sorry to hear that, WhisperHorse. Feel better soon!![]()
YUCK! I don't like SNOW! I had enough all my life...ugh!
oh, wow. 25 years at a keyboard will definitely cause carpal tunnel. my doctor also recommended that i wear a splint (which i'm wearing right now) 24 hours a day 7 days a week. unfortunately, it's not helping any.i felt a little better yesterday, but woke up with complete numbness in my fingers this morning. oh well.
Wow, I should be getting it soon since I've spent about 25 years at my keyboard! I think I've actually had this particular keyboard for about 15 or 20 of them. It has a USB port adapter on it because it doesn't fit any modern ports. I like this keyboard though, and I don't wanna give it up.
