Tasteless or Not?

I am impressed with how we all are able to talk about these things, religions, politics, trauma and media in a rational manner. Lets keep it that way, lightly on the heavy subject is a delicate balancing act. Maintaining civility has became a matter of being able to see the horrors of 'jumpers' past the censorship. Its amazing, I'm glad for you (some) Americans, I am from New Zealand. I know nothing about Beck, sounds as so he's is a self-serving git. (<<that is not a swear word, google it if you must)

it's not a censorship but more of respect. We can view it privately on our own online but I believe the news executives made a good decision NOT to display it on national tv as it is very disturbing and distressing for all especially in the time of chaos and panic.

Yes, that's right, Jiro.

That was a reason why my mom took my sister, brother, and me from our schools and his babysitter's house to my home. We were affected by that horrible event. Not funny...

Doubt it, when have media executives really cared? Think about it, this particular image and related the documentary 9/11 The Falling Man were withdrawn on the basis of the fear of litigation more than anything would be closer to the truth.

These conservative radio talk show hosts should have been exposed to a wise parent.

And the same applies to the liberal ones, right jillio?

These people are only "talking heads" that talk a certain way to spin the stories to their own liking. Programs such as "Savage Nation" are the same way.

Are we supposed to take them seriously? Of course not and they all know it. These people have writers who do all their work for them, all they do is sit in front of a microphone with a headset on or read it off a telePrompTer and spew what they're given to read.

That's why these talk shows are called "entertainment."

Politicians all know how to spin their side of the argument in campaigning. For example, where did you get your opinions from? Quite possibly from your parents, right? If not them, then where? Where did that person get their opinions? Where does everyone get their opinions? From someone else, regardless of relationship to that individual.

Politicans can insult their opponents without using the exact words. Lawyers do the same thing in a courtroom in defending their client or prosecuting someone for a heinous crime. Politicians do it all the time and it takes a skilled listener to catch what is actually being said.

By the way, the best example of this is to listen to a presidential address to Congress. At the end and after all the handshakes and backslaps, the news anchors sum up what the president said, then they take a break and the show goes to the opponent's side for a rebuttal. Then, the news anchors do the same thing again and, if they're really crafty, they can "spin" it to say what they actually want, depending on how they actually vote. Sometimes, "spin doctors" are called in. Sunday morning news shows are prime examples.

*shrugs* I guess he's going to be attacked violently by a bunch of the victims' families and friends because he don't seem to understand how difficult it is for them.

sometimes it is from a person's own experience that gave them their own opinion... and others agree too because they know what the person is talking about (because they felt the same way all along).

anyway, many of the conservatives I know have a high respect for the victims of 9/11. I think if they knew Beck said that, they probably be furious with him too.
