STDs still on the rise, report says

And George Bush didn't put $1.5 billion into abstinence only programs. The U.S. Government has put $1.5 billion into those programs since 1996. Who was President between 1996-2000? Slick Willy. Don't forget that the President doesn't just get to do whatever he wants. It must go through Congress as well.

And schools today do teach regular sex ed, not just abstinence only.

Yes, the bush ADMINISTRATION aka the GOVERNMENT (dee dee dee) did.

Yeah, you're right. Rather than parents taking the time to go to the public library and read up on STD's to talk with their children, they should just blame it on what is or isn't being taught at school.

Yes, they should. How many parents do you know are going to sit down with their sons and talk about fingering themselves to stimulate their prostates? How many parents are just dying to talk to their daughters about female ejaculation?

Yeah, I don't think so. Health ed. benefits the MASSES. Just like how we teach kids in health class how to take care of their bodies (what to eat, to excersie, etc) we MUST teach sexual health.

How did you know I was a chiropractor?

And yes a chiropractor is a physician.

no, they aren't. they haven't attained the level of medical study necessary for them to have an m.d. or d.o. behind their name.

don't even try to compare yourself to a physician because there is no comparison. the two are completely different.

president bush has the power of veto and since he didn't oppose congress' decision, he *was* responsible for putting $1.5 billion into abstinence only programs.

U.S. Department of Labor:
"Chiropractors, also known as doctors of chiropractic or chiropractic physicians, diagnose and treat patients with health problems of the musculoskeletal system and treat the effects of those problems on the nervous system and on general health."

And the fact of the matter is, a chiropractor has not gone to medical school, and does not have the training that someone with a medical degree does. Many people with Dr. in front of their name are not physicians.

That's really weird about the chiropractor registering just to discuss STD.

Is it someone from here who just did not want to talk about it?

Did you know Chiropractic origin is Iowa? Palmer school in Davenport.

We think of them like snake oil salesmen. One almost killed my stepmother's mother by trying to treat her diabetes with orange juice.

Yep. And evidently, the one posting realizes that, hence the misrepresentation attempted. Doesn't say much for the credibility of the professional, does it?

did you forget about legal age? Teen has no legal rights until they are of 18 years old. That means parents can make them get examination.

Nope, they can not. The girl can file a complaint and the Dr. can be arrested for touching the teen inappropriately. Unless you have DCF involved or court order.

Parents can not force a teen to have their plumbing checked.

this is exactly why some doctors have teenagers (or adults) sign a release form indicating that they do not wish to have pap smears or similar forms of testing done.

And many people with Dr. in front of their name with legitimate training are assholes.

At least, the Dr. I had for a while was an asshole. Doctors nowadays just write prescriptions. They don't even try anymore.

The other thing they didn't tell you in this report is this: If STDS are on the rise, so is HIV/AIDS.

Do you consider children born out of wedlock to be "bastard children"? I have known people who expressed an opinion similar to yours and they consider children out of wedlock to be bastard children.
I don't hold any children responsible for what their parents did.

Like marriage is foolproof?

Proof?
Proof of what?

If people don't have sex beyond their marriage partners, then they won't get a sexually transmitted disease.

What if the partner doesn't know they are carrying an STD?

Good.

Perhaps in a perfect world, everyone would have children when married. However, reality can't always be the way we want it to be.
