Srsly! Teenager sent 14528 texts in a month!

You got a crappy plan

get a new plan with unlimited data

That was before I got a new plan. My new plan is unlimited texts for £35 including insurance, i also have 200 minutes to call but i never used it

It's not just teenagers. I have friends in Italy that are in their 60's and I can assure you they are just as addicted as many teenagers in the U.S. And also I'm a teenager and I'm not into texting at all. In fact I wish I didn't have a cell phone period. It's more for my family then for me. So it would be nice if we didn't automatically direct all our outbursts to the teenage population.

No one cares about that 60 years old because he already lived his life to its full potenital.

What we are doing is, "cell phones are unacceptable for teens"

Beside, hear_Again, the parents who doesn't discipline believes that their kids are mature.

Again, they're humans, so they can be wrong about their kids.

My parents were wrong about me. That I'd live off them and live in their house. But nah, I was reckless so I left their house, no money, no job, no place. I had a cell phone. Found places, found jobs, and BOOM, I live in California by myself. Doing grand, working all day writing on AD all day, getting paid for nothing. WEE go me! THANKS TO THE CELL, I GOT THIS JOB. MUHAHAHA.

60 year olds are adults and can make up their own mind about how much they want to text.

imdeafsowhat,

i was able to get a job last year without a cell phone. what do you think of that? :cool2:

I think generally speaking, many teenagers push their boundaries because their parents place boundaries on them even before they do anything wrong. My parents never gave me a curfew, let me use their credit cards, let me use their car (I was sighted till recently), never told me I can't do drugs or have sex. And yet I never came home obscenely late, never maxed out their credit cards, and have never tried drugs or had sex. Why? I simply have no interest in those things. Sure I would use the car once in the while to pick someone up for the airport, but I wasn't driving it around everywhere getting into car accidents. And why didn't I push every boundary? Because they gave me something that so many parents don't give their children by imposing boundaries before they make a mistake--that is trust. My parents trusted my judgment and it worked out beautifully. I had no reason to push any limits. Sure, it might not work for every teenager, but I think it would work a whole lot more than most people realize.

My parents let me do anything as long it was reasonable e.g be home at a reasonable time or make sure i got a lift home off a friend. On sat i was home the latest ever at 11.30 when i go out drinking with friends i always stay over at sumbody else's house so i dont disturb the house when i get in. My mum, my sister was allowed to have any piercings or anything she wanted down but not her tongue. my mums quite laid back. but if me or my sister want to do something we always ask first even when if my mum says you dont have to ask anymore your 18. my parents were not strict but they were not too laid back either. i didnt rebel or anything as a younger teen. I went out with my friends from 12-13 years old, my parents trusted my friends because they are 3-4 years older than me. at 16 my mum let me go on holiday with my friends after my stressful gcse;s exams. my friends were 17, 18, 19. Iv always been mature and sensible and its all thanks to my parents

The other thing is that because they gave me their trust, I'd feel incredibly guilty if I went to far with something or lied to them. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I broke our trust.

I notice it says, she's text messaging to a teen in New Zealand no wonder bec voice calls can run up a bill and text is free and unlimited. That's a teen for you.

I only text because i cannot hear on the phone, if i could hear on the phone i would ring people more often but most of my friends are deaf

That's what's nice about texting. It's Deaf friendly and also a visual medium is nice if you're at a concert or in a meeting where you can't rely on an sound medium.

That is an awful lot of texts! I only text about 10 times a day, sometimes even less. But I had an obsessive ex-boyfriend a couple years ago that texted me like crazy, it drove ME crazy. :eek3:

My sister texts like crazy. It drives me nuts cause I can't have a normal conversation with her. It annoys me the most when we are just the two of us or when we're in the car and I can't even go do something else. (Yes, she texts while driving.)

That's illegal now.

Jan 1st, all device that uses text messaging must be ceased using while driving.

Or 300 dollars fine. Eek.

For carpool violation in california, it's 600 bucks now, was 300. lol, people don't care, they just speed in the carpool.

AMEN!!!! That is exact what I mean when I post in other thread, one of 13 yrs old asking for advise on getting cell phone. I am sorry, I am opposed having kids gettinc cell phone, all schools are required to have access to telephone so whats point of having cell phone? For emergencies? Oh come on! Schools usually have nurses and access to telephone. Need cell for emergencies is LAME excuses!

That would be reasonable except that I (yes, the one you're talking about) don't spend the entire day at home/school. If I were to injure myself away from a telephone that has telecoil compatability, etc. in the woods, hiking, etc. I would be barred off for a time before I could find assistance, long enough for a gash to get infected or need to travel enough to worsen an injury, particularly one of the legs (which I have had before).

I don't know where you pulled out

PLUS for the last 150 years, no one has cell phone, did they have problems? Of course not! so whats difference for today?

but this makes no sense. Hundreds of people have died in remote conditions because they couldn't send for help in the way someone could today with the advent of cell phones, particularly GPS enabled ones.

Regardless, I'm looking to buy a cell phone so I can call people when I need them or just talk with them while I'm not at home. It's functional and useful to me, even if it may never happen that I will have a severe emergency as described above. Please take your small town values back from where they came.
