I think we'll repeat ourselves ad nauseum untill we turn blue in the face and pass out. :P

I would probably pass out quicker than all of you because I did 6 hours of nonstop teaching without a break. I didnt even eat lunch.

That's what I have been trying to tell her. It is speech therapy but I'll bet the AVT therapists do not want to admit it.

Bingo. They don't want to admit it, because there are so many logical and actual arguments against making it a focus of a kid's life. They try to call it language therapy to make it more acceptable. Thing is, it is deceptive to call it something other than what it is.

Nope..

just very concerned about deaf children's well being. Many of them end up with language delays and deficients and self-esteem issues all from trying to be hearing when they arent.

I have seen that too many times.

If exposed toboth, they can have that choice to remain in theDeaf culture or not. Since many of you advocate for choices when it comes to implanting children...why are you all against for giving children choices to both worlds?

That is the million dollar question. But no one will answer it!:P

Not good! You need to take care of yourself, girl! Our deaf kids need you.

Just a change of words to make it sound more fancy.

It was just one of those days. One of my students missed class so I had to reteach Science ..so I had to give up my prep time. Plus I got called to a meeting during my lunch break so I didnt get a chance to eat lunch. Oh well.

Sound more fancy, and convince unsuspecting parents that the child is getting more than they are.

Plus the hearing seem to equate speech skills with language skills.

I get it. I have those days, too. Just hope that they don't happen too often!:giggle:

I would have hated missing lunch cuz I really pay for it if i miss a meal. I hope you're fine now.

Luckily I had a huge breakfast. I always eat a hearty breakfast before work cuz every day, I teach for 4 hours straight until noon. No breaks anymore because of NLCB.

That sucks.

It isn't speech therapy. It is teaching a language. We are not focused on articulation but instead the ability to understand and use the language. Do you really not understand the difference?

Don't you just love NLCB? Among other things, it can now be responsible for hypoglycemic teachers passing out.:giggle:

Deaf people who dont have oral skills UNDERSTAND English too!
