Sick again

I'll think hard for you and I hope you can get this healed soon. {{{oceanbreeze}}} Get well soon!

A bit of an update

Hey guys,

It's been about two weeks or so now since I discovered the sore on my upper thigh, and I thought I would give you guys a mini-update on it, and my overall health.

Generally speaking, I feel fine. I tire very easily, though, so I need a good nap during the day. The sore itself has not changed, which is a good thing, I guess. It's not any smaller, but it's also not any bigger. It's draining a helluva lot, but it's still not infected. So far, so good. I'm keeping it covered, and staying off of it as much as I can. Ofc, lying in bed sucks. Since I feel alright for the most part, it's really hard for me to spend so much time in bed.

That's it until I see the doctor again in about two weeks.

Thank you all for your thoughts/prayers.

Oceanbreeze,

Nice to hear from you. You are still in my prayers. Try to take it easy and do what the doctor says. Staying off a pressure sore is a pain in the butt! Funny how that works out that way. ;) You take care of yourself! Try to have a great week and we'll be looking forward to hearing from you again.

Dave

Hi Oceanbreeze

I hope that you would try two things that might heal your health. A small amount of natural garlic to fight against germs. A muscle stimulation therapy to make your nerves and muscles improve, and it takes time a lot of time to heal your muscles. You could put some butter and small amount of garlic on your toast so that the taste would not bitter. A garlic makes bad breathe - who cares - Let's pretend that it smells good.

I have a small muscle stimulator and two pads on my dog's paw for her nerve - she has a nerve problem that started almost 2 weeks ago. This morning, her paw barely moved a little that surprised me. It took 5 minutes overall for each side of her paw. It is not perfect yet. (I gave her good vitamins and a vet's liquid medicine "Spinal/Nerve drops".)

Anything that you should try - like taking many kind of good vitamins and learn about things that you have never heard of. It is wasting a time to see a doctor, and he thinks of something that never mention about alternative treatment. It is time to wake up other people and get start to learn something new ...and to make them feel better.

I am not a doctor, but I do know some alternative treatments. The alternative treatment takes time. It is too bad that many doctors don't give some advises on alternatives because of their money and was taught in modern medicines. A few doctors do not give a damn about their patients. That's why I have to tell some people to repeat what I said because the more they are aware later on finally paid their attention. I remembered a doctor told me that he never believed in alternatives so in six years later I happened saw him at a nursing home. He was 56 years old. It's up to you to make your own decision because you are an adult. I am tired of people who did not try it. Actually, it is not their fault for not knowing many other ways. It is so difficult to find the right information, but just do your best judgement. It is not even easy for me to find the information. I am still learning new things.

I'm taking vitamins, but as for the stimulator, that would not help me. My problem isn't nerve/muscle related, but bone. I haven't been diagnosed yet, but it appears that I have osteo-necrosis. In layman's terms, my hip bone appears to be dying due to lack of blood supply. We're not sure why it's causing the pressure sores, thougth. That has yet to be determined.

In about two weeks, I will have an MRI, and it's likely that the osteo-necrosis will be diagnosed then. It's also hoped that we can come up with a treatment for both the sore and the osteo. I've been doing my own research, and it appears that surgery is an option for most cases of necrosis. Either something called a core decompression, where they drill holes into the bone and bring blood to it. The other possibility appears to be hip replacement. That's for the necrosis. Options for the sore have yet to be discussed, but the plastic surgeon has talked about going back into the pre-existing surgical site, and cleaning things out in there.

We'll see....I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks for the update.

I will continue praying for you.

I will foward to read these link.

Many adult people thought that milk is good for their bone, but it was wrong because milk contains acid that makes your bone weak and fragile. It does not mean that the milk is bad for you. It's probably for kids, not adults.

In fact, broccoli really makes your bone stronger and healthy. It's good to eat the broccoli everyday. I just thought that it is interesting for you guys to know about it.

Glad to see that you're doing okay, I haven't been around a week, missed this thread too. Hang in there and best of luck to you. ;)

I'm glad to hear that the sore itself hasn't changed and that you're doing okay but I'll still keep you in my prayers and hoping to hear more update on your sore...

Ocean I am sorry to hear of your medical troubles.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

My mother suffered quite a few pressure sores mostly from being either bedridden or from not moving around enough.

The treatment they did for her was a cream umm trying to think of the name of it silver something or other and also they did what is called wet and dry cloths and what that is they put these wet clothes soaked in sterile water on the sore and let it dry there. Doing that about 3-4 times a day. Not sure if any of this is an option for you but it may be worth discussing with the doctor if you havent already.

Mom's was always on her backside but they did go deep. But if it is at the bone I am not sure this would be an option. But always worth asking about.

Good Luck Oceanbreeze. Hope you are on the road to recovery soon.

I'm taking supplements.

Btw, I read up on the neuro-stimulator. After I replied to you, I re-thought about it, and realized I might benefit from some muscle strengthening, but the stimulator is not indicated in someone with an open sore, which I have.

The cream might be silvadene?

Anyway, the sore is deep. It's to my bone, and yes, we're doing wet to dry dressings. That's basically gauze soaked in saline, which is then packed into the wound. Hurts like hell...

Thank you for your prayers. :)

Good to see you posting again! :) Dave

I'm around. :)

Like everyone else, I lose track of where the thread goes. I'm trying to keep everyone updated, though.

Its hard, because I'm in a "hurry up and wait" situation. Dr is going out of town, so that's why there's a delay on getting the MRI. Also, since the sore is relatively stable, there's really no hurry to rush me in for it, or surgery for that matter. Yes, the sore is to the bone, but it's not infected, so we're sort of in limbo.

I'm starting to get frustrated, to be honest. I want this over with NOW. Not next week. Not next month. Not a year from now. But, NOW!!!!

I'm not the most patient person in the world, either. Can't you tell? ;)
