Should a pedophile be granted parental visits?

So you love, hug, support & even kiss child molesters?

Maybe you should try entering into the Priesthood.

FYI it is a diagnosable mental illness.

You are on the slippery slope of shooting anyone you don't understand or like. Smarter people than you and me have decided we don't shoot the mentally ill.

And I abhor the BEHAVIOR of child molesters. You might want to figure out why that is important.

How is Priesthood any different from someone who worked undercover as part of a crackdown team? Both are limited in their experiences. One is blind to what goes on outside of his institute. The other is blind to experiences outside of his own.

I know you are absolutely disgusted with pedophiles, but maybe consider that your past experiences with entrapping pedophiles jaded your views only toward those who are dumb enough to stray from the straight and narrow path?

It's kind of like someone who work for a shelter saying everyone should adopt a dog, despite the fact only 5% of the dog population are given up. Kennel blindness is a cruel mistress.

And I am concerned about the future behavior of those who seem to think that shooting others is a solution to anything they disagree with.:cool2: Red flag!

I see that you still have unresolved issues.....

That still does not excuse their crimes against children in the eyes of the law.

Even when a mentally ill individual commits an act of murder, that still doesn't mean they're not dangerous.

A while back, we had a local molester here in this state who got released from prison after serving 10 years for child molestation. A cop followed the guy right after he walked out of the prison door.

He followed the perp walking into an apartment complex where the perp saw a child walking towards where he lived and followed him. He ran right into the apartment before the child could shut the door, punched the mother out and stuck his hand into the child's pant.

The cop kicked the door open, the molester bolted for the french window door but was stopped short by a taser gun and was arrested.

Thing is, after his trial. he got 2 years for it.

Something sounds fishy in that story.:cool2:

Source: Pedophile and Child Molester Statistics - Yello Dyno

That was my question. Plus, the numbers are a source cited "1991". That means that the data was even older than that. There is generally a 5 year delay in receiving data, and having it reported to the public.

I don't think Yiz even bothers to read his own sources. Nothing in there indicates that pedophillia cannot be successfully treated.

LOL you're SO hilarious, dismissing a data because it's "OLD". You really expect a data to change that much in 10 years? Prolly by a small margin in 10 years, but that's it.

As for curing pedophiles, you're just pissing on the data because it doesn't INCLUDE a data of curing pedophiles?

How about you showing me a data that pedophiles is being cured 100% with absolutely no chance of re-offending ever again!!!!!

Thanks

Yiz

Twenty years.

So? How much do you expect it to change in 20 years? Like I said, not much.

So if you can find me a very RECENT data and link it, I think we'd all appreciate it. Laziness on your part is no excuse.

She would know old data is not relevant because she works with it all the time.

Can you say the same?

Because convicted pedophiles is such a loaded debate, and there's so many causes and correlations that must first be dismantled.

One have to question everything before answering questions related to convicted sex offenders. For example, North America, as a whole, has a high recidivism rate regardless of the crime committed (60%-70%.)

Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) - Recidivism

In Nordic countries, the chance of re-offending is much lower:

The released from prison in Finland 1993-2001 and the re-entered - Rikosseuraamuslaitos
Brå - Brottsförebyggande rådet - Recidivism
Fewer prisoners return to life of crime - The Local
Norway's Halden Fengsel Prison: Humane Rehab for Inmates - TIME

In fact, sex offenders and those convicted of homicides are much LESS likely to re-offend in Finland.
