I didn't even know Sikh religion existed until I read this thread.

I wonder if shooter was for or against Sikh religion?

I am just thinking out loud ... I wonder if the shooter thought it was a Mosque. I am glad someone decided to carry their sidearm when this happened and was able to stop the shooter from causing even more death and mayhem.

Agreed. All the more reason why the 2nd amendment is necessary for protective measure.

After re-reading the article, it appeared that Officers were dispatched to the scene. They must have arrived very quickly. A stellar job!!!

how did you come up with that?

but this is the guy who lives nearby and Sihk Temple has been around for 5 years. How is it that he is still clueless about the fact that Sikh Temple is not a mosque nor exclusive for Islamic followers.

Maybe because he is "special" :dunno:

When I lived in DC, the lead homicide investigator during the Gally murders had no idea Gally was a Deaf school. He lived and worked nearby for 20 years.

:( my folks and hubby and I were eating out when we saw this news, we all thought how sad it was too.
I believe there was a vigil Madison Sunday night.
I was thinking about the rage and hatred too, Lucia-

A large number of Americans don't know the difference between Sikhs and Muslims! Pray for their community and for the police officer that was shot by the gunman 7-8 times!

Unfortunately I would say that Gulf War, Iraq and Afgan vets are more likely to do this as they have seen so much. Doesn't make it right but it does help explain it. It really does not help either that he is a white supremicist skinhead neo nazi wacko! That coupled with war veteran equals trouble with a T! Very sad day!

I don't know if he's "seen" a lot of actions when he was in Army. There's no detail on his Army background yet.

The victims:

"The six victims of Sunday's attack were identified by police as five men -- Sita Singh, 41; Ranjit Singh, 49; Satwant Singh Kaleka, 65; Prakash Singh, 39, and Suveg Singh, 84 -- and one woman, 41-year-old Paramjit Kaur.

Two other Sikh victims remained hospitalized in critical condition, while a third was treated and released, Edwards said.

The wounded police officer, identified as 51-year-old Lt. Brian Murphy, also was in critical condition, the police chief said. Earlier, Edwards said that Murphy's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening."
