Shooting at LAX; casualties

An unarmed person should not be called security. So, instead of them being called "TSA", they should be called "TRAWTCSSUA"

Transportation Run Away When The Crazy Shooter Shows Up Agent"

Not all security officers carry guns.

It's pretty obvious that having a sign that says "Gun Free Zone" will NOT stop criminals from bringing their guns to a place they know is essentially devoid of people that carry guns, thus making the whole area a sitting duck for easy shooting. Putting up a sign or reminding people the area is a "Gun Free Zone" actually makes the area much more vulnerable to shootings. And we have seen this time and time again with tragic consequences.

It is obvious you don't get anything I have said.

Why would you think I would "play games" with people's lives? I don't advocate putting people into criminal kill zones defenseless.

You don't understand about definition of security.

There are many different security positions, TSA is airport security that check you at checkpoint before they can let you go in secured area. The guns are banned in secured area (beyond to TSA checkpoint) but less restrictive in unsecured area - before TSA checkpoint. There are numerous armed law enforcement officers in airport and they can gun you down instantly if you make immediate threat. There are some security positions, especially TSA are not armed.

You started play game about definition of security, TSA and incident in the airport, so make you looks ignorant or incompetent. I'm not interested to see your silly comment about tragic event, that's not funny at all.

The airports are hardly gun free zone because you will gun down instantly by law enforcement officers. There are two different areas - secured area and unsecured area. In some states, citizens can carry guns in unsecured area, but banned in secured area. This gun incident happened in unsecured area.

The security measurement is very complicated at airports.

No, it isn't all that complicated. A "security" agent that is armed doesn't have to run and hide and lie in a fetal position and wet themselves when a crazy shooter shows up.

I'm not surprised about you failed to understand my statement.

That's not what I was talking.

That will be changed after this incident.

TSA agents do not get paid very well. Main requirement for the job is a background check. I think there should be "trained" armed, TSA agents at every security check point. If not them, then police officers or military.

One thing I've been thinking about is that us being deaf, we would not hear gun shots. We definitely would see the people running but would have no clue why.

Also...in watching this all go down on the news, does anyone think that the emergency response was too much? There were over 100 emergency vehicles. Seems like that in itself makes the scene that much worse.

Let's see, a lone gunman shooting in a crowded airport. Yeah, probably a proper response on getting that many emergency vehicles at the airport not knowing how many shooting victims.

You notice that it does not matter how many emergency first responders show up AFTER the shooting? The TSA agent is still dead.

I am sure a thorough investigation will take place - the gunman will be made to appear like any ordinary average gun nut that has something negative to say about the government - and no one will do anything to lift the restrictions on the gun free zones and the shootings will continue in gun free zones and people will continue to wonder why this is a trend.

If only someone had been carrying they could have prevented this senseless act of violence.

I know but there were injured people there. Not only shooting victims but the panic of people running to escape the shooting may have injured themselves in the process. People may have succumbed to heart attacks or other medical conditions exacerbated by the sudden shooting.

With or without gun restriction, there will going be other tragic events at airports and they are HARDLY gun free zone because of heavily law enforcement officers presence and they will instantly gun you down if you make immediate threat. In some airports, they allowed armed citizens to carry guns in unsecured area (all way until stop at TSA checkpoint).

Last paragraph, the airports already have security measurement to take care of those threats and none of plans are totally perfect prevention because there will be probably tragic events, so no matter about how strict is security measurement. Those situation occur in unsecured area, not secured area.

Federal law already banned citizens from carry loaded guns in secured area, but less restrictive in unsecured area. Due to 9/11, I doubt that our lawmakers will going allow armed citizens to carry guns in secured area. Allow or disallow the firearm in unsecured areas are usually decided by state or local laws, or airport policy.

"The TSA are wearing no guns when you see them on TV patting people down so I do not know why people would think the TSA had guns. People needs to be more informed when they're traveling today , it's not the same anymore and the rules and laws keeping changing. You really needs to know where some exits are encase you do need to escape a mass shooter or if there is a fire. '"

You did not read my comment right! I SAID TSA NOT WEAR GUNS!

Actual airport police, who carry guns and have arrest powers, worry that their own authority will be undercut by screeners who look like police. Every major airport has its own police department or is patrolled by local police.

Shooting at Los Angeles International Airport raises question of whether TSA agents should be armed | wusa9.com

May be new change TSA law which should be armed or airport cops must stand near TSA screeners area.
