Today's memorial service at Fort Hood was very dignified and sad. I'm now watching as people pass by the portraits of each of the deceased. Each soldier, airman, marine, and sailor, officer and enlisted, stops and renders a salute to each of the 13. Sigh....
Now I wish I had a tv. I'm quite it's quite touching for Americans to watch it.

well think about it - Hasan is in impossible situation..... wars against Iraq and Afghanistan. he took it as "War on Muslims."

... In Hasan's case - it is puzzling to why Army HQ hasn't done anything after his repeated requests and complaints.
Hasan was a medic--that is, a non-combatant. He wasn't going over to Iraq or Afghanistan to kill Muslims or anyone for that matter. He was going on deployment to take care of the mental health needs of American soldiers.

he does not want to participate in this war. kinda like "guilt-by-association"

Yes, it was.

Perhaps you can get some of the memorial coverage on the internet.

Turns out it was him who needed mental health counseling.

Yet he had access to guns. Ah well.

Soooo what you are saying is that he is a pacifist because he refuses to treat soldiers in a war he disagrees with, but it isn't his fault for killing those same soldiers?

I don't see anything that identifies him as a pacifist nor do I see anything about him refusing to treat soldiers. Those aren't the case in here. He just didn't want to go to war that involves with Muslims and I can understand that. It's a conflict of interest.

He has contacted proper channels several times and nobody has done anything. Something's wrong with this picture. Somebody in Army HQ must be held accountable for this but Hasan's despicable action is inexcusable and he must be held accountable for his action as well.

This was a term used by Hasan's family regarding his desire to not go to Iraq.

He did not want to go to Iraq and treat our soldiers there. He is a doctor, so as Reba said, it wasn't like he was going over there to kill his own.

Then he shouldn't have enlisted for the free education. As I said before, nothing is free.

Finally, something we can agree on!

but refusing to go automatically makes him a pacifist? *edit* I'll have to go back and read the article that the Hasan family stated he is a pacifist.

guilt by association. I don't have problem if I'm being called to Afghanistan or Iraq but I don't think I would want to go to war that involves in killing Koreans. it's a conflict of interest for me.

did he really enlist for free education?

I had it posted earlier in this thread, but it seems to have been removed in the clean-up lol
I'll see if I can find it again.

Okay, that's weird. Usually pacifists join a non-militaristic national services rather than the army. I am thinking maybe his family is just borrowing a word to describe his feelings toward the wars in the Middle East?

quite possible. family members tend to make up emotional stories.
