San Francisco Circumcision Ban

The Flintstones had a gay old time and I am sure the guys weren't circumcised. :cool2:

I'd say that circumcision is a lot less serious than forced CI, AVT & English-only.

You know how you live without hearing? Yeah, babies live just fine without their foreskin.

I didn't choose to live without hearing, just to let you know. I didn't stab a pencil through my ears.

It's a slippery slope when you want to dictate other people's personal decisions. It's the same kind of mentality of people who think that Deaf should raise their kids English only or with CI or not have kids at all...same mentality who think that gays need 'fixing' or some such.
Genital mutilation is on a different level, and it only seems like a small deal to a lot of people because it's a common procedure. However, people don't realize how unnecessary it is to start with. Most people resort to the "So he'll look like his father" card when it comes to the snip-snip, not medical nor religious reasons. It's just astonishing how people here are failing to realize that they are in fact, mutilating an individual's sexual organs against his will. It shouldn't be a personal decision at all, it is not your body that you are fully willing to mutilate for the sake of some silly ideology.

Seriously, if my government told me I couldn't circumcise my children, I'd tell it to go fuck itself.
I don't care, genital mutilation is genital mutilation. It cannot get any simpler than this.

Complications of circumcision is a long list...

• Aesthetic damage
• Phimosis
• Hairy shaft
• Haemorrhage
• Meatal stenosis/meatal ulcer
• De-gloving
• Urethrocutaneous fistula
• Infection, including MRSA
• Hepatitis
• Tetanus
• Bladder infections
• Septic Arthritis
• Neuroma
• Blockage of the Urethra
• Buried penis
• Penoscrotal webbing
• Deformity
• Necrotising fasciitis (Galloping gangrene)
• Priapism
• Gastric rupture
• Oxygen deprivation/Clamp injuries
• Plastibell ring injuries
• Ablation (removal of the penis)
• Deaths

The list goes on and on.

Female circumcision is against the law. But why is it ok to circumcise boys? This does not make sense to me.

It is in my experience that most people go with the majority. In the earlier days, everyone decided to circumcise their baby boys because that was what everyone was doing. SOME (not all!) boys that were not, were made fun of at a later age because their penis looked "different". However, it is different today. I am in my 30's so I have seen many of my friends have babies and the majority have decided to leave their sons natural. So those who decided to go ahead and circumsise their son...their son will grow up being "different' because everyone else will be natural. So you might want to think twice before circumcising your son :hmm:

** I think it is absurd that everyone isn't putting safety first. But I wanted to make this point as well.

The vast majority of Jewish males are circumcised. It is usually done on the eighth day after birth. However, there are a small number of Jews who are NOT circumcised. There are some anti-circumscision Jewish organizations that are against circumcision.

I guess religions evolve as do laws...why are people so resistant to change?

My ex brother was circumcised by a Rabbi and he got an infection. I told my doctor if I had a boy I did not want him to be circumcised . Girls are circumcised
in some counties and right here in USA! And they are done when the girls is a older. I was not resistant to change , I did not care what the Jewish custom was , there was no way I would allow his done to my baby !

Yes, it's estimated that 10% to 20% of Canadians born these days are not left intact. Thank God. There's no need to severe 20,000 nerve endings, it's the most nerve-clustered section of the body. The only reason why circumcision existed was to reduce both men and women's sexual energy, which has failed miserably anyway.

It's somewhat common for an infant to acquire an infection after being cut. You see, the wounds itself can get infected by the urine and fecal matters.

By Jewish tradition, males are required to be circumcised when they are 8 days old. Islam also requires circumcision for boys as well. This law would be both anti-semitic and anti-Islamic at the same time. How ironic.

Ow, why put anyone or babies through this?!? Just seems so unnecessary. I know some Jewish friends who have opted not to circumcise thier babies and their church is fine with it.

and it's easy to get branded as anti-semantic because it's a very common practice in the Jewish communities. However, they fail to realize that people are more concerned about the health and safety of the infants, not the religion. Why should people be given the rights to mutilate a helpless infant's body? Yes, it may be their children, but they shouldn't be entitled to do whatever they please to do with their children's bodies.

It's a minor procedure by removing the extra skin.

Good thing babies don't remember this quick procedure.

"Don we now our gay apparel, fa-la-la, fa-la-la, la-la-la...."

During the Gay Nineties....

When Our Hearts Were Young and Gay.

:)

My grandmother (born in 1900) always used gay for happy, and queer for weird, and nothing else.

But they feel it is safe enough to allow parents to decide.....that should be a hint to you....

Yet, they still don't recommend it. Not even my family doctor would recommend it. In fact, he recommends against it, but will refer his patients to the hospital if the parents insist on it.
