Return of the banned people! Part II.

I agree.

Anyone should be able to be themselves without their professions lingering over head. A person is a person regardless of what profession or where they work.

People are not working 24/7 They need to be able to be themselves.

My true personality is the total opposite of my "teacher" personality!

I know what you mean. I have seen doctors and lawyers outside of their work.

People perceive others by their professions. but, really takes someone to know a person outside of their workforce.

I made a thread of a petition to shorten Jillio's ban. Please go sign it. :)

No, I will not sign it. It wouldn't be fair to others who were banned for a month in the past and none of you/ADers sign a petition for them. So, my question is why only Jillio ? :cool2:

I did not know anybody was ever banned for a month.

Guys..

I'd like to gently try to remind us to keep this thread from getting "too personal", as that's what got the first one locked up, remember?

If you want to discuss a particular individual's ban, head for the other thread.

Also, the mods are not the law. They are simply officers that enforce the law. The law was enacted by 'us' and the administration. They simply carry out what was already hardcoded for the site.

If you want to appeal it.. head for the other thread.

You should really stay out of it. With due respect you got favored by allowed two accounts, and plagiarizing an AllDeaf website and nothing happened to you.

You are a big example of blatant favoritism. And you are not a moderator to tell people what to do.

Jillio has stated that when she comes on AD to debate, she leaves the role of counseling to other stuff and just come as herself, as the person. Just like I come here, I am not here as a teacher in some of the threads. I am coming here as me, Shel so when someone told me that because I am a teacher, I should talk or behave in a certain way..I say, "Am I in the classroom?"

well - jillio did keep using her professional expertise & ethics all the time in most debates.

that's why AD has rules. she broke it. not once but several times and several warnings. plain and simple.

I thought having the peition do make a difference anyway.

some of members are not like a killer or something so bad. They have their rights to be angry when they make posts so opps. I cant image how someone is not allowed to come back because they disagree with someone else. that is no big deal to me. of course some of us dislike someone who disagree with us but its their rights. Provoking is something that we hate to deal with and they will get over with the provoking.

if someone mentions something so hurtful like i want to kill you.. then the member has to get OUT of this forum for a lifetime. that is different between with provoking and kill you.

its my opinion. we do need people with strong opinions here. :D

I agree with you on this, but signing on a petition to convince Alex to shorten Jillio's ban time...come on. give me a break. :aw:

i start to see why naisho was saying. Just keep my talking & your talking the ban on the other "petition" thread. this thread is just a start head about banning someone and be simple.

yeah i understand. i wasn't there about some years on ad and someone had been banned for a month. so i didnt realize that before. i only see that 30 days is too long for 5th time warning.

If I wanted to give an ad hominem back to you, I would say something like, "Well, not all online counselors end up getting banned after their first few notices."...ASLGAL probably, most simply felt like she was getting attacked for her beliefs from my initial observations. Look at the first response from each unique user and see how it ended up going.

With all due respect, I think Jillio could say the same thing. There were attacks being made on both sides -- not just one.

I still stand by my opinion that counselors are human and it's unfair to expect them to act any differently than another ADer. I'm a social work major who eventually plans to enter psychiatry. Does that mean I don't have a right to express my opinions or disagree when I feel the need to? Perhaps the way Jillio came across was a bit harsh, but again, people are human and can't be expected to act perfectly 100% of the time.

JMO for what it's worth. :)

yes and both of them got spanked. regardless of their professions - they both violated the AD rules. simple as that. If you violated the rule in AD, you'll still get spanked even if you're the President of the United States. :)

Exactly, Shel. Hence the reason why Jillio shouldn't be held to higher standards because of her profession.

Just my two cents. I don't understand why things can't get heated up just alittle, it provides insite to others opinions and view points. It's kind of a boring life not being able to voice your opinions..

That probably made no sense but oh well maybe someone will get what I'm saying

That's true, but remember you were the one who wanted to hold Jillio accountable for her actions given the nature of her profession. :)

sure why not? it can get heated but the point is - they resorted to enticing, provoking, personal insults, etc. that's a :nono:
