I have lots of experience with addictions in my profession.
Not profession, yourself, in general? I can name a few you have already.

Yes, that's amazing. I never really understood the attraction even though I grew up in the era where cigarettes were advertised everywhere, including prime time TV. Actors smoked like chimneys on TV and in the movies. There were hardly any places where smoking wasn't allowed. My dad smoked for many years.
I was never lectured about the evils of smoking. There were no campaigns against it. It just never interested me. I guess I was fortunate to have never had enough money to waste on cigarettes to start with. There are benefits to growing up poor.
for those who would like to quit, have tried everything, there is a prescription called Champax, it actually worked for my b/f who has a very addictive personality and tried for years to quit, the gum, the patch, cold turkey, a course with the cancer clinic. This drug made him just not care about ciggs, he would forget about them. Might be worth your hubby talking to his Doctor about Shel.
Maybe have a large visible glass jar with blackened, cancerous lungs in formaldahyde solution as a good reminder and incentive to quit? Or have a nice stroll through the hospital wards full of people with lung cancer or full blown emphysema as a source of inspiration? Keep smoking Obama. Your kids will love you for it.
Have any experience in breaking any addictions? List them please if you do.
Cold-hearted aren't you?
I know the mochas didn't have HFCS. What company did was sneaky... they deliberately chose an extremely bitter strain of coffee beans from Colombia that masked the sugar taste... and put in I believe about 35g worth of sugar into it? it didn't even TASTE sweet either.
Yep... happened to a friend. He was on an opioid... forgot the name of it to make his dialysis bearable. Was called "hillbilly heroin" for awhile; I think it was like $400 a pill if you were looking for it on the street? Then the doctors cut him off cold turkey. :\
Was kinda depressing to see him having to resort to pot and a few OTC medications (since he couldn't afford the street equilivant of the painkiller he was on.) Totally not impressed with the way his doctors didn't offer rehab or at least try to wean him off. :|
Actually a little hospital tour might be great for kids. Kind of like "Scared Straight" films but for smoking. If we are going to indoctrinate kids a tour that keeps them from smoking is probably a better choice than the "mmm mmm mmm BHO" song

Hmmm...as I sit and I wonder.
He just started meds to help him quit last week. He stopped smoking on Tuesday. I try not to question him about the meds or how the cease of smoking is going because he says it makes him start thinking about it.

Mind if I ask? Is he taking Chantrix?
Yes, he is..hope it works.
I hope it does, too. They generally have good results when combined with some behavior mod.
I had a psych prof that quit smoking using Chantrix and behavior mod when it first came on the market 3 or 4 years ago. She was successful, but the meds did create a bit of depression for her. It stopped when she stopped the Chantrix, though. You might want to let your hubby know so he can be aware of that,
Uh oh..with both of us being depressed, not a good mix. I am trying to work through my emotional trauma since my daughter moved.
That could get sticky!! But it isn't a given that the Chantrix will make him depressed. Just a chance that it might. I hope he will be one of the ones it doesn't do that to.
Hang in there girl. I know you are working at it, and you know it just takes time. You know where to find me if you need me.
I am considering seeking therapy. My ex hubby's ex girlfriend just emailed me sayign that she needed to seek therapy after what he did to her. Wow...
