Pics of you - Part V

the prob elms with drums is waters gets in and makes the brake useless...

Even when they were dry drum brakes just didn't stop as well as disk brakes.

It's insane how fast crotch rocket are nowadays and it's good they have good brakes. Some bikes can hit 100mph in FIRST gear. :eek3: I once rode a Ducati 1198 and it just had so much power that I couldn't use all of it all the time; if I gave it full throttle I'd be spinning out.

Mark's right, it was called Drum brakes, cables and shoes (in a half curved like a banana with flat surfaces consisting of brake pads, it WAS called brake shoes.....the drums were hollowed out cylinder in the center of wheels..
it got eventually replaced (aside from cheap cars or cheap bikes still uses drums...

so no, Mew it called drums brakes or disc brakes. there variety of it too, slotted, drilled, vented, carbon, steel, ventilated, enclosed, either are hydraulics, or cables, and even rod actuated...

Yes, however...

He said back when I rode in 90's AFTER he indicated the motorcycle had something in common with his bike he has at this point in time. My point was, in this day and age, drum brakes are few and far between. When the drums do exist now a days, they are usually on the back, not the front. ( My current bike has a drum on the rear and a disc on the front ) To see a motorcycle in recent years with front drum brakes is just... I've never seen it from 2000 and up personally speaking. So while he first referred to current standards of his bicycle and then reverted back to in the day with an old motorcycle yes, that is correct. However, speaking of how he said his bike and this motorcycle had common braking systems and my statement was ALL motorcycles have that kind of braking system, I was not indicating they all had disc brakes from the birth of motorcycles... I am aware of drum brakes and how they work... However, drum brakes on the front after 2000... well, that's something I'd be amazed to see personally... and if so, it wouldn't be that common at all.

The motorcycles of the early 1990's were good memories, but they're not quite the same thing as those today. Last time I rode on one was 1993, I believe. Wow, 21 years?!

I like your pic.'s , Mark

For me, I'm no good with math - that 25 x 4, or whatever that was -wouldn't know the answer easily. I didn't learn to tell time or count money til high school.

Hopefully there will be many days soon when you can get out on your bike!

This is me prior to getting my haircut and after. Sorry about the bluriness-- something's not quite right with the front-facing camera.

Hey Mark, nice hair cut. Might need a warm hat until your weather turns warm.
