Phonak CROC

It seems the ComPilot only streams when it worn around your neck. Is anyone else having this issue. If I take the ComPilot off, it un-links itself from the aid. Does anyone have a stronger antenna? This is a disadvantage compared to the Smartlink which has a 30 ft antenna.

I THINK you can have the ComPilot off the neck, but it has to be very close by. Maybe try it in a shirt pocket? I only tried this once when I heard that it was possible for for "testing purposes". I wear mine around my neck.

It would only work if around the neck or on your shoulders. Reason why Smartlink has a 30ft range is coz you have the 'boots' attached to your aids anyway.

Yes, but the boot is just the receiver. The transmitter, Smartlink itself, connects to the receiver at a great distance using an FM link.

In the case of the ComPilot the reciever is a t-coil in the aid itself. I am not sure if you can create a farther distance with a better neck-loop wire(basically a better antenna). The t-coil works off magnetic field and it may not be possible to create that field over a greater distance. I'm looking into it.

If the connection for both the Smartlink and the ComPilot were Bluetooth, it would solve a lot of problems because you can use an antenna for Bluetooth as well as FM.

ComPilot is nothing to do with t coil. It's works on automatic program's called EasyAudio, EasyBluetooth. Nothing to do with t coil at all.

I believe it uses a ?dedicated? FM signal that can only transmit a very short distance.

Maybe, I just know that they are program's within the Phonak aids that don't take up program's slots but would automatically and can be adjusted differently to your other program's.

To the transmitter(from an IP to the Pilot for example), yes, but the receiver(the aid) needs a connection too. And, Bluetooth does not use a magnetic field so there would be no need for a neckloop.

But we don't think the connection between the loop and the HAs is the t-coil. I think it's some type of "small" FM (I'm not techy in this stuff). You could probably go onto Phonak's Professionals website and get the details there.

BTW, when looking for info about it, I found out that Phonak now has a RemoteMic that BT's to the ComPilot. I'm checking with my audi to see if she has it, if any of her patients have used it and like it, and, of course, how much it costs (did see a price online of $175). They even have a ComPilot/RemoteMic bundle now (so you might want to check with your audi if you can return your ComPilot and get the bundle - if it's cheaper than getting both separately).

The ComPilot connects to your aids by automatic program's which needs the neck loop. The ComPilot has the Bluetooth inside to connect to your phone. NO aids actually have Bluetooth inside.

I have that bundle. The problem is I had to always wear the ComPilot. So, my question is: Is there a way to expand the magnetic field through an antenna or some other device. My guess is no at the momment.

What I don't understand is: If they can make the Mike FM they should be able to make the reciver FM too as the ComPilot obviously has that capability.

What sucks about smartlink is the price. I've found both systems offer the sound. In fact, I believe the sound quality is ALL in the aid/boot because I am using an older smartlink and can hear more clearly with the new aid.

I must say, I like the Nadia better than the A+.

Ive personally found - I used MLxS's with my Naidas and a Smartlink SX but now have ML10i and Smartlink plus which is newer technology and OMW the sound quality is WAY better.

So you believe it is worth it to get Smartlink plus? I don't hear a difference between the ComPilot and Smartlink SX so that would mean I might be stepping up if I get the plus and getting possibly better sound. If that is the case, I'll ditch the ComPilot for the Smartlink Plus.

The technology has really changed in the recievers not the transmitter, from what I understand as the only different with the SX and the + is better bluetooth and a anti rustling system so when you hold the transmitter, its not so noisy.

The dynmatic recievers can detect speech within noise and raise it 16db above the noise. To get this to work well tho, you need the FM recievers to be programmed to the same amount of gain as your aid using the Phonak FM SuccessWare software.

I used the recievers without them being programmed to the same amount of gain as my hearing aids and the sound quality was really really rubbish (the sound was still way better then the older FM that I was using) compared to after it had been programmed properly.

I think it may be programmed correctly since I can hear better with this receiver. I will check on that again.

I'm off to the gym for a sweat resistance test.. It's supposed to be waterproof.

Receivers - MLxi | Phonak - life is on

This is the new dynmatic FM reciever. Universal FM which can fit on any aid (must have a DAI connection like the Naida) with the right shoe.

I personally have the intragated receivers myself due to the job, I do.

The Naida is not waterproof, only water reisitant and as you have the audio shoe attached, you loose all of the water resistant of the aids, you need the other battery draw, not the audio shoe battery draw. Phonak state that very clearly.

The older FM recievers can not be programed like the new ones :)
