How about if a child says "Mommy, why did you have me implanted with a CI? It is not working well for me as you hoped! I hate it so much!"?

Really it comes from both ways...negative or positive.

But statistically (I don't have one but after few years of research and seeing what they says) the chance of the kids saying that is remotely slim than those kids who enjoyed greatly. **shrug**

I agree with you on this.

When I say I don't agree with implanting babies I don't mean to leave them alone until they are 18 years old to make their own decisions. I think babies should be left alone until they are a little older to understand better what a CI is. If my 7 year old daughter happened to be deaf and she comes up to me telling me that she wants a CI after she learnt all about a CI then I would let her dream come true.

It is really wonderful for these children who are happy with their CIs and I am happy for them but you know that there are some kids who are not happy with their CIs. There are some members in here who have admitted that they are not happy with their CIs. Like I said it goes both ways.

I then would say:

Sweetie at least you and I didn't wasted this one and only opportunity for you to receive the best benefit from CI.

There was only this one time chance that if the CI worked it would work best at a very young age only. If I waited longer it would not ever work as well ever again. I just couldn't do that to you.

You can always remove outer parts and a magnet. And if I understand correctly with nowadays newer models you can even remove a whole CI if you wish.

She is very exotic young lady with beautiful olive skin on her body. Many men were chasin' her for datin'. I shooed them off like I would to flies. LOL Anyways, it DID regret me and I don't like it ( about the scar on her navel ). I just want to see her happy. If, she is happy, then I will be happy.

Your daughter could still wear a bikini with a high waist panty, you know? I have 2 scars on my lower abdomen from c-section and appendectomy but I don't let that stop me from wearing a bikini. Really, scars don't bother me.

Yep. I'm beginning to wonder if they understand "early intervention" at all? Or do they understand it is our right as parents to decide what is best for our children? Do they also understand that hearing aids may not work well for children like my son? I wonder...

FYI, yes I do understand.
It is just that I don't believe in babies being implanted if they do not understand at all what a CI is. I don't remember how old your son is but I believe seeing somewhere that he is 5 years old. If he is at that age then I am sure he understands what a CI is by now.

Yeah, I know. My daughter can find a better way to cover it. She is 26 years old now. It doesn't bother her anymore as it does to her when she was a young kid.

I am sorry but to me it is proof you do not understand at all.

What's the point of early intervention if you want to wait for the child to grow up to explain about it, only then it's too late for "early intervention"?

except this is no reason to deny any child the chance to hear.

Why not give the child a chance to hear first and THEN let it decide.

So therefore you have no faith in Deaf children s natural true identity and their abilities. I have seen Deaf children without device that they are so brilliant and challenge with me. I am proud of them all along while you dont see the truth because you denied yourself as always. You have no confidence in yourself as a Deaf person without device. What a big laugh!

There are many Failure CI out there that you dont give a damn about it.

CI is not the whole answer for all Deaf chlidren that many parents were forced them to have CI in early age..

Guess what you cannot handle the truth of Deaf children s abilities. I rather to believe in their natural abilities than doing it for hearing ppl s sake.

Well! Have you read it what I wrote in my topic Evidence of being deaf with HA? You ll find the answer from there. ;) I dont need to repeat it over and over for you guys who dont read it or read it carefully. ;) And also, I am very sorry these childish/immature audist people are making a big stupid mess in my topic that doesnt relates to my topic. They are too pushing too far and force us to deal with HEAR AND SPEAK only.. Scoffs!

We all Deaf people do not hear everything. :whistle: :whistle: :whistle: SO BE IT!

I dont need anyone to set up for me anymore.. Since they have no respect for me from the start.. They have had been cruel and disrespect toward me and others that I dont appreciate it..

I want people to see how they treat us like that all along from my topic. .I am glad it has happens that has not change for the better.

We are getting sick of their enforcement for us to think of HEAR AND SPEAK only that s for SPEECH ONLY. Where are our Deaf rights that has been always conflict interests between audist and Deaf rights? It has not solved the problem all along.

Why bother to spend 50, 000 dollars or more to make a Deaf child into a Hearing child that hasnt solved the problem yet? Where is our natural abilities that works out for us very well between Deaf and Hearing and doesnt cost much or damage toward Deaf chidlren? Audist dont want to hear it and reject it all along.. Truth hurts. Is it?

It s same old behavior routine from the past until todays. What a big :zzz: :zzz: as usual!!!!! It s not new to me because it s not gonna to fit for us into a hearing world only. So be it!

I rather ATTITUDE change first that they need to chill out and learn to adapt with Deaf children s true identity and natural abilities that we can learn how to read and write that is very important for all of us.

HEAR IS NOT EVERYTHING FOR US TO DEAL WITH every day of our lives. SPEECH is always have the impairment for all of us and our Deaf voices that doesnt change much..

All I am saying that no one can change your true soul that they have no right to destroy our Deaf's true souls .. PERIOD!

have you EVEN been READING the forums carefully. You know none of these parents that are on this forums are FORCING their child. They are giving their child an opportunity! Secondly as matter of fact some of them DO sign with their children. Because it is because of attitude like "THIS" is why they are going to say "THE HELL with the DEAF COMMUNITY - I am NOT goign to raise my child near the deaf community" and then they go off and raise the child with no exposure. Thanks now we lost some people because some assume that all of US are like this. Which is NOT true. And they are NOT destroying deaf souls - attitudes LIKE THIS destroys deaf souls. And you know what, I am DEAF and yes i have a CI. I still interact with my deaf peers frequently, but I use the CI for better opportunities at work and it is paying off. I don't want to be one of those people who works for a Fortune 100 company and sit there in the bottom and wonder umm am I going to ever move up. It opened doors for me and I am glad it did.

I'm sorry but it is attitude like this that really shuns the hearing parents of deaf children. It is no wonder why our deaf culture is dying. And what EVERY PERSON needs to realize just because ONE person has a CI it DOES NOT MAKE THEM HEARING! They are STILL DEAF!
