Teenagers don't always tell their parents what they are doin' outside of the parents' house. That's like they don't tell their parents about takin' drugs with their teen friends.

Same thing with pukin' in the tiolet when teen girls try to be like models, they hide it from their parents as well....

Until their parents saw somethin' that is revealin' out of their teenage kids.... too late to fix all that. Parents have to face it and move on. Of course, they will eventually be there for their teen kids.

Ok, tell me what are you gonna do to make them to be honest with you to prevent it from all this happenin' ? What, if it is too late for you ? What are you gonna do about it when you knew that it can not be fixed, but to face it and move on -- just to be there for your teen child until he/she is fully responsible ?

there is no "one answer for all." Every circumstance is different. Like I said - open mind, understanding, and proper education are key to nearly all scenarios. What do you think why people seek counselors? not because they have professional knowledge. it's because they are open mind and very understanding. They help and educate people to understand the situation better. Don't you wish we have those early on at schools?

Result? her daughter's pregnant and unmarried

2. Your daughter's school taught abstinence program.
Result? Your daughter had a teen pregnancy

3. My old close friend's family is very Catholic and strict.
Result? He was a very risky fornicator and does not practice safe sex most of time. His sister is probably a fornicator too behind their backs.

Conclusion - Abstinence does not work. Banning does not work. Strict Rule does not work. Hiding information/education does not work.

Exactly...we, private citizens, are entitled to our own privacy and have our ways of dealing with issues but Palin is expecting to be a leader so she opened herself up to the public. I see that the debates arent really about her daughter pregnancy but more of how Palin views it and how she will address it especially when she has strong beliefs about this kind of issue.

not being responsible?! Nobody can be around their teens 24/7. How many pregnant teens are there in the USA? The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the world, so all those teens have bad parents? If you had a teenager, You'll know how it will be, we parents of teens learned to avoid hostile confrontation when a teen does something wrong, we also learned to keep the line of communication open.

I would give them incentives to make sure this would not happend.

First--they would be homeschooled--that way you would know what they are up to, what they are doing, etc.

Secondly--the incentives for the kids would be age appropiate. You want more minutes for that cell-phone/text messaging? Get an 'A+' o your finals, you want that car to drive around? Show me the g.p.a. of 3.6.

Can't do any of that, don't get the "perks".

Simple as that.

Thank you, Byrdie. Actually I was speaking only for those that are iformed about the issues, and I qualified that in my second statement. I don't pretend to speak for those that are uninformed and choose to stay that way.
