The problem is that a person cannot live in our society without being complicit. If I buy milk, even the organic variety, I am supporting factory farming. I live in an urban area and I can't keep a cow for milk. I can't be vegan (although I've seriously considered it). When I buy running shoes, which I need, I'm supporting low wage factories overseas. I can't make my own running shoes. I'm trapped. It's easy to feel depressed about that. All we can do is speak out and be politically active in supporting causes important to us.

I've considered going vegetarian and even vegan for health reasons. I find that it's hard for me to go without meat for more than one day. Anywhere from 1/3 to 2/3 of my meals are vegetarian though.

Palin is a political celebrity, that's why her books will sell!

While that's true, it's not a reason to give up. Just do your best.

I found veganism was hard at first but once I got the hang of it, I found that it is now part of my identity.
Actually the diet is the easy part.

dreama, I do my best but I'd like more progress. Patience may be a virtue but it's hard. ;)

I wish I can be a vegan... but my nutritionist said it would be a suicidal thing for me to do at this point in my life, especially since I am unable to digest most plant matters. (I am missing an enzyme that break down cellulose.)

Does it help that 1/3 of my diet is in rice?

I can understand how the food would be the easy part, since all foods list what is in them. Other items are a bit more vague about the contents. Also, it can be hard to find a respectable substitute for commonplace things, such as leather for shoes. Glad you are happy with your decision.

I find it odd to note that Teddy's book is 7th. I mean, here is this old guy, has been out of the public eye for some time as he began to die from cancer. To compare his book as ONLY 7th while touting Palin at #1 is laughable. She is the flavor of the moment; the media circus follows her every move. Ted is dead. No crowds following his gravesite. If Britney Spears writes a book, Palin becomes old news. Why does this even need to be discussed? Oh yeah, the constant drumbeat of the "nut" and his shilling for deficit attacks.
 When was Teddy really ever out of the public eye?

Books by and about recently deceased celebrities are always popular for a while immediately following their deaths.

What does she look like? Could you describe the picture please?

Blue skies in background with fluffy clouds.
Top of book says "SARA PALIN"
Beneath the words is Sarah smiling, looking away. She has glasses on and her long, brown hair hangs down over shoulders in front. She is wearing a light, red jacket. And small US flag lapel pin in pinned on her jacket on her left side.
Words cross her lower mid section of her body in the picture and it says:
"Going Rogue: An American Life."

Looks like she'll beat out a dead guy's own book sale even before her book hits the press.

Oh, btw, his book isn't at #6, it's now #7. Can't even crack past the #5 slot a book called, "Diary of a Wimpy Dog Days." Which is kind of funny if not sadly ironic.

:ty: for post the article but I am not interesting to buy her book.

I have some Kennedy books here with me.

She doesn't kill wolves from helicopter. That's fiction and I for one don't believe a word of it. She's not vegan and she does believe in animal control methods that I don't agree with, but I don't know any politition who doesn't. Well their is Dennis Ketcher who is vegan, but nobody voted for him.

It really bothers me when nobody cares about factory farming and Vicisection which kills many more animals then hunting does.
Anyone who eats factory farmed meat is illogic to rave so much about Sarah Palin killing wolves. It's just plain humbug.

OK, this is like my tenth post dispelling that falsehood. Palin does not shoot wolves from helicopters.

Dreama & Reba,
Palin authorized his people to kill wolves from helicopters.

Reba,
As what you say that Palin does not shoot wolves from helicopters then you also should say in several threads that Hitler does not kill people as well because you know that Hitler authorized his people to kill innocent people don't you?

Yes, I consider Palin killed animal the same as Hitler to people because it's them who authorized their people to kill .
