okay ad'ers. ask me anything (but be nice! :))

my eyes have been watering all day and are now very sore.

It could be so many things, so I can't really say. Maybe the cold? I agree you should go with calling your ophthalmologist and have him/her check them out if your eyes are still sore and watering tomorrow.

The only other thing I can think of is sometimes excessive watering is a symptom of Dry Eye Syndrome. I know it sounds contradictory but dry eyes sometimes go into tearing overdrive.

one small thing - MAYBE it's preferable to contact a "well-off" (clean/well-budgeted/bigger) police department. you be the judge. :cool2:

my local police department happens to have an excellent reputation and is in a relatively large suburban community.

however, i'm wondering if it might not be better to contact the police department from the city that is closest to where i live?

it's funny you should mention dry eye because my last opthalmologist i told me i have that. she prescribed eye drops, but i never took them because my symptoms weren't that bothersome. now it seems that they are. my eyes have been watering all day and they hurt.

I'm sorry.

Hi Hear Again
Sorry for not being able to help you, but I just hope you'll find a solution. Maybe you should go to the ER if it's too painful.

i just might do that if my eyes continue to hurt. i hate to sound like a whiner, but they really are painful.

Oh no Hear Again! Eye pain is the worst. I would definitely get them checked if they are hurting badly because it could mean something much more serious!

I wish I could help too. <sad> Is it more of an aching pain or a sharp pain, Hear Again?

 Hear Again
Sorry to seem a whinner, but my hearing ear is painful. Should I go to the ENT doctor tomorrow ? (my GP is on holidays)

Thanks a lot for your reply

i know you're not a doctor, but what are some things that eye pain could signify? by the way, when i say my eyes hurt, it's more of a soreness rather than a headache-type pain. i should mention that i've been sneezing all day and am congested, so i wonder if this could be a cold or perhaps one of my allergies peaking. i don't think it could be the latter though because i vacuumed the apartment yesterday and dusted.

yes, i think you should go to the ER tomorrow -- maybe even tonight if you can find a way to get there. *any* type of ear pain (especially if it is in your hearing ear) should definitely be checked out. you could have an ear infection and the last thing you want to do is wait until the pain becomes unbearable. good luck!

Could be swelling from the allergies, could be your eyeball pressure, could be a lot of things really. I hope you feel better, Hear Again.

it's not an aching pain. it's more of a soreness and sharpness like someone is poking a sharp object into my eyes.

i think i'm going to go to the ER later tonight. i'm starting to worry since the pain is sharp and as i mentioned, feels like someone is jabbing a sharp object into my eyes.

That sounds more like your cornea was scratched. You could have got something in our eye or maybe your eyelid is scraping your cornea. Does it hurt to blink?
