Obama: This isn't your 'run-of-the-mill recession'

Honestly I don't think it will get better anytime soon. Regardless of what Democrat/Republican plan it is.

One cannot make changes that result in overnight remedies when one is working to reverse what took years to create.

It seems that placebo pills are better than none at all in some cases. :)

I'm sure you're right in that very few people will turn down their stimulus checks. :)

I would say to Liebling:))) , with all due respect - you need to research and stop listening to far left wing nut liberal sites and MSM news outlets. Spouting looney left talking points all the time only proves the fact that you know not of what you speak.

I find it mildly amuzing and irritating that people who have no vested interest in this country assume (and you know what that does) to tell us stupid Americans what is what.

Why do you care what happens in America?
It will not affect your socialistic lifestyle in Germany.

If we start building new oil refinaries, and drilling in new areas that will provide jobs in construction and the oil business.

That is just a small segment of the population.
Not counting the other related businesses and infrastructures that will benefit, and how our dependence on foreign oil will be reduced.

I wouldn't mind throwing in a few off-shore windmills either.

Lower income taxes for everyone who pays taxes.

Offer incentives for businesses to open or expand operations and hire more people.

I know that there are a lot of other businesses that would benefit indirectly from the drilling of oil as well as off-shore windmills.

However I would prefer that America pays off it's debt before spending on anything else.

Afterall--our credit is virtually shot.

The current stimulus bill won't solve that either.

I don't think nothing is going too.

I saw the stimulus bill and if I was Obama--I would've gone through it--line by line.

Parts of it was good, other parts--not to good.

I think we will be in this recession for quite a while......

IMO, in the long run, a long recession or depression might be a good thing for USA.

Cause we have become too materialistic. We think we have to have things that are really not needed. We need to know what is really needed and what is wanted and USA has forgotten which is which.

That's a good part of it too.

As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day" and our economy won't be either. If anything, it will take 2-4 years (or longer) to strengthen the economy to the point where people aren't losing jobs left and right or struggling to make ends meet.
