Thank you for provide link, thats very interesting. Mmm, Yeah I do agree with person saying "The 'race' apply on the U.S. census is truly racist".

I would say race question is a form of discrimination.

Also concept, If somebody fill out a job or rental applications, they require what somebody's criminal profile "If you are convicted of felony" by check yes or no? isnt that racist/ discrimination?

No, it's not racism or discrimination to check your background... example you want to be a police officer, Security Officer, Safety Officer, Watchman, etc... They has the right to check your background before offer you a job. It's about trust like what Cheri said.

In America we have many different race, religions and people of different cultures that live here, the reason they ask for our race so that they can identify us better. :)

Ok, I have another question for you...

Did they also question you about your disability on application form, too?

I would say race question is a form of discrimination.

People should be proud of who they are, There is absolutely nothing wrong to describe how you identify yourself in terms of your race. :dunno2:

Yes, race should not be a factor, they do interviews based on a person's qualification for the position. They must follow the law on equal opportunity and equal rights, which meaning race, color, religion and national origin. ;)

If they say they don't want to hire you because of your race, that would be discrimination, you can file a complaint. :)

Actually but they can find reason as an excuse to aviod the word "your race". It does the same with disablility as well... Oh well...

This will be :topic: because this thread is about "identify race" :) and I'm not going to pull this thread off-topic. ;)

Not all people... I would say some people accord the link, I provided in previous post.

I think it's absurd to be proud of something you can't control because you born to your parent with different races.

Unfortunately, the system is so discriminatory because the race question are not accomplishments to answer.

Yes I know it's :topic:... It does the same with your answer to XBGMER's :topic: question over background checks on the application form. Why can't I question about disablitiy on application form, too? If you don't want to answer to my question due :topic: then just simple answer is "Yes" or "No"...

When I fill out appication forms for federal government assignments or contracts, they have a question, "are you a minority-owned business.". It' not directly a "race" question until they further ask "which minority group."

In America, there are "affirmative action" employment programs that require information about race.

Uh, no. Having been convicted of certain felonies automatically disqualifies you from holding certain jobs. An employer has every right to know that he is hiring a person who has been in prison for 15 years for armed robbery, and a school system has every right to know if an applicant has a history of criminal sexual assualt.

I would say race question is a form of discrimination.

Asking the question is not discrimination. Refusing tohire someone based on their race is discrimination. But think about it. If someone wants to refuse to hire someone based on race, chances are their race will become known when they show up for the face to face interview, no matter what they answered on the written application.

I don't care about the color of his skin or what race he is. Why should it matter ? *shrug*

It just that vary people are try to make correct on history as specs what or how we should label on the first president on something.

When he look like African, should called something on basic instead saying "first African-American".

I think of US Census as fun to count.

yes so that Human Resource department can accommodate you

Do you really believe that they would offer or invite you for the interview if you leave race question as a blank on application form?

please educate yourself on what makes it discrimination/racist or not. Not knowing the distinctive difference of those is nothing but ignorance. I'm ignoring all of your posts because it makes no sense at all so I'm giving you another chance to redeem yourself.

btw - to answer your question.... yes they will hire me regardless of answer to race question. Like I said repeatedly - sometimes there is a word next to race question "OPTIONAL." But the question does have "PREFER NOT TO SAY" checkbox.

To me... hes black. Its not like he bleaches his skin like Michael Jackson just begging to be white or something.
