not that its a bad thing but...

We hibernate.

Shouldn't that mean more of us are sitting, staying warm, by our monitors?

I don't post to FB as much as I do here. I get tired of the people who post every time they blow their nose.

Things on AD seem to have more meat on them! I don't have the same sense of community on FB as I do here.

Exactly!!! Facebook is awesome for keeping in touch with people...but there's no sense of community there.

I love Facebook for more personal stuff but I like AD for discussion ..I don't mind the heariea that come but it seems in the intro section they are almost all hearies lately ..to the deaf! Come out come out where ever you are! Lol..and that was in a non creepy way not like the scary movie version lol

Personally, I like FB better than here. I have only a select few from here on FB, and we can stay in touch with personal stuff. I have no need for the audist-oralist- type threads anymore hence why I don't post much in those threads anymore. Mostly just the General Chat which I can find the same info off FB as it is from those I care about. Just my 2 cents. :)

I don't use FB as much as I used to. I have really been enjoying my new friends here in AD.

Yeah, left unchecked, this site has slowly become a festering sore of well-versed audist platforms. People that try to express the viewpoint of deaf end up feeling defeated by a group using English as a first language, articulating that their way is the best way, and complaining about equality or crying foul when someone disagrees. If those same people sat down in a room, with the deaf, and debated the same topics with ASL, they would be snuffed out. That is why I come here. I feel it my duty to help keep this site a good place for the people it was intended for.

Well there's a way to make a hidden forum for a group or two, why not defies?

Not parents, not CODA - just defies (I wouldn't be there...)

(puts on flame-proof suit and hides- )

Well, it isn't all of the non-deafs that come here; it is the ones that try to guilt parents with an English-first agenda for their children, or harp about the wonderful world of sound. Why should deaf people be ashamed of their identity? Language?

Exactly- No one should, and a little tiny place tucked away on the board where:

"Why do defies-?"
"How do you sign-?"
"I know a deafie but she said-!"
"Audist don't exist-!"
"You all should-!"

None of that would (likely) happen.

It wouldn't need to come up in the search mostly ranting about this or that- no questions that hearies would need to see.

The Atari forum I'm on has at least three hidden forums not counting the 'pending moderation' forum where 'reported' post magically disappear to until someone looks at them (restoring the post or editing it to abide by the rules).

Stop running and hiding silly!

That reminds me of another forum where there's 3 parts: 1) all users, 2) males only and 3) females only. And what part you get "access" to is based on what gender you signed up as.
