False!

All German boys MUST serve once in their time in the Army and/or Mental Hospital against their wishes because of the Government order.

Boys? Are you talking about 18 years old.

They have CHOICE is go to Army for 10 months training OR work at mental hospital after finish their school education.

American HAVE to register when they reach 18 years old. They have NO choice.

I remember the thread somwhere here... I will link to show you....

They have the choice of army or mental hospital??????

I would call that control by Government.

Now in Australia, we have real choice. We dont have to make the choice between army or mental hospital, we have real freedom!!!!!!

I am required to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes every week out of my paycheck.

That´s exactly same as in Germany.

What about people who have never been able to work?

I already mentioned in my previous post - pension money. (it call "early retirement benefit".

No, I work to support me and my family, and because I enjoy my work. I pay state and federal income taxes because it is required. I also pay sales tax, property tax, personal property tax, gas tax, etc.

Yes, it´s exactly same as in Germany - we work to pay tax to government.

People can save their money, and invest their money in private insurance and pension plans. They don't need to depend fully on government "insurance".

Yes, it´s same here in Germany, too. We have our investment for our future pension.. We can have extra investment if we want to. Nobody stop us... We will still get pension money from government because I pay pension insurance. It means that I will get both or more ...

Isn't what you do in Germany a form of conscription as you have to work for the Government, of this you have no choice. The only choice you get is to join the army or the mental hospital.

Sounds like forced labour to me!!!!!!!

Save for a few exceptions, basic military service ("Grundwehrdienst") is compulsory for all men between the ages of 18 and 23 years. Those who are engaged in educational or vocational training programs prior to their military assessment are allowed to postpone service until they have completed the programs and can be called upon to perform their national duty at any time thereafter.

it´s no force... they give germans time to finish their education, trainings, etc. first then...... then make choice what they wants...

Americans has no choice and have to register when they search 18 years old which different as Germany or any countries... All what we do is respect what we have different cultures... I already give you the link of Army in the world...

I just found out by my eldest son and hubby today during our meal converstion that it´s not only Mental hospital they join to for 9 months but "Civil Servants/Duty" - something like that clean at streets, graves, old people homes, mental homes, hospitails, work at farm etc. etc. etc.

My children were taught at school about this. We met our former child minder at store today. She told me that her 20 years old son work at clinic since last September instead of join to Army for 9 months and love it. He finished his Education last September then decide for Civil Servant/Duty... Clinic as carer... I ask my eldest son either he want to join Army or civil servant/duty.. My eldest son said that he want to join Army to learn how to defend himself but my young son said he want to join Civil Servant/Duty.

Questions :
Do you believe that your country ( Germany ) is better than the America regardin' on how to raise their kids, just because of perfection ?

And, do you believe that the German children are better off than the American children, just because they are receivin' a better education than American's ?

 Sorry, I really have no idea what earth you talking about. I thought I come to debate with anyone since you created your thraed to ask us for our opinion. Is it harm to open my honest opinion why I´m disagree to this? I never say one word about this & I already said before that Germany is no prefect country. All what I said is children abuse which it relate on your thread. All what we talking about children abuse etc why I´m disagree what a mother did to her daughter to public. All what I disagree is no emtional abuse to add children protection law. I only say that here in Germany have emotional abuse law

Im starting to see that this discussion topics became out of orignal topic of this thread! What this thread is about? Discipline between parent and their child, not government and the kids, nor how somebody will live in their retirement!

Back to the topic, there is NO one discipline that fits all. Some form of discipline works for some kids while other don't. When kids become tyranny or out of control, parents tried everything. Unfortunately our government will NOT do anything until it is too late! I think that is why this mother is going extreme, but brilliant measure to get her daughter straighten her ass up. There have been history that the judges in the court ordered crook to do very similiar as what this mom did, and the result has been positive! And this crook never did the crime again! I might do that if I find it necessary. It depends on how my kids turns up, and I sure hope they turns up good so I don't have to go extremes.

It's just questions - no harm done. You are still entitled to your opinions. :)

I still don't agree about some of things you've stated here about psychological/emotional issues. I don't believe in "self-esteem" either... that's my opinion.

Exactly. I can see that myself, too - sorta of way off-topic.

Leiblin' : Let's go back to that topic of this thread that I just provided in page one ... shall we ? And, please stick with it about "Mom makes daughter stand on street corner" -- not the governement and kids stuff. Thanks. :)

It means is that they are being neglect by their parents. That´s how it expose them like this.

Having bad grades has nothing to do with Parents. If the child needs help with their schooling, Ask for help. This article shows that the mother does care about her daughter's grade has nothing to do with the daughter being neglect. There are some teens and children out there who doesn't want to work hard or care to improve their grades and schooling. Now, the mother wouldn't make the daughter stand on the corner if she didn't care about her daughter's bright future. I've seen a true story movie about a mother being on crack, and this bright teen worked her way up to finish high school and enrolled herself in college. :thumb:

I think we, the public have NO business telling parents what to do with their kids! I think public telling parents what to do with their kids do far more damaging than leaving them alone let them work on their course.

:gpost: I agree with you 100 percent. ;)

Another great respond from you again because that's so true. ;)

 Liebling is not the only member in here is going off-topic. There are few other members in here had done their share of off-topic also. ;) Don't we all go off-topic from time to time? Should have done it as generally as to "stick with the topic" instead of finger pointing at one member. :)

Well, who created this thread ? I asked her NICELY to stick with the topic because, it had nothin' to do with what the mother did in that article about the government. I don't see where the article have stated about the government about the mother and her child. That article talked about child's poor grades, talked back to teacher, and so forth... and, how the parents could deal with their kids if, it happens to their kids.

Of course, Lieblin' is still entitled to her opinions just like everyone else. I am sure some MODS would ask the members to stick with the topics in other threads as well. :)

You pointed your finger on me for made my off topic post? only me? :nono:

Why can´t you say something to some of members who made their topic off, too?

I would ask you NICELY to tell other members (you know who) to stick the topic, too. :) What you did to point your finger on just me is not acceptance.

Of course, Lieblin' is still entitled to her opinions just like everyone else.

Thank you
