I know how to Google it, jiro. Just wanted to see justification for using something from 60 years ago as pertinent to the current situation.

oh ok - my bad. Thought you didn't believe he was a member of KKK. On that side note - an interesting quote by Sen. Robert Byrd in his memoir

"It has emerged throughout my life to haunt and embarrass me and has taught me in a very graphic way what one major mistake can do to one's life, career, and reputation"

Yep. Called taking responsibility for one's mistakes in life, and learning from them. Sign of intelligence.

Byrd never apologized for his past actions....not once. He even spent 14 hours filibustering against the 1964 Civil Rights Act. And it wasn't any surprise when he voted against Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas, either, since they were the only two blacks ever nominated for the U.S. Supreme Court. Must have been the Kleagle blood in him to do that. Byrd NEVER took responsibility for his past actions. No apologies. No remorse. And he's a constant reminder on the hypocrisy of the left.

Even in 2001 on tv he said "white n*****s"...twice. It's even on YouTube.

All this, easy to confirm. It's called...Google.

I wouldn't be surprised if he still has a bunch of KKK mementos in his house somewhere so he can look wistfully at them and remember the good old days while he was a Kleagle.

Reba, and we have a former KKK member named Sen. Robert Byrd in Democrat Congress.

at least they can be open about what going through their head, otherwise we would have a secret KKK in the house that we would NEVER know about.

Who brought about Robert Byrd at first place so it's you and you need provide an source to them.

Do you have problems with reading comprehension. I guess you missed the quote.

How can you ppossibly judge the amount of remorse any one individual experiences? You can't.

As for the rest of the KKK nonsense: you speak about it like an insider.:cool2: The Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed 45 years ago. Move into the present.

No, you need bring up an source if they asked you to do, not point at me.

Exactly. It is getting absurd. This poster makes all kinds of accusations, consistently posts videos without transcripts, and then expects the rest of AD to take up his slack and do his work for him.

So, standing up during the State of the Union address and hollering insults at the President is well mannered?

I was referring to cowpuppy's posts to koko, not Joe. BTW, I'm no fan of koko and I have koko on ignore because I find it easier to be civil to him this way.

I think Joe Wilson was rude when he did that. He should be censured.

Civility ended with JoeBlow...an act of ending debate....don't look at me.
Yeah ignore might be a good idea....I think he's jsut trolling.
Unfortunately......don't want anyone swayed by the garbage spewed out.

Ditto because Kokonut is the one who brought up over what and how Bryd at 67 years ago. I like to see which source from any websites, Kokonut prefer because we have different preference to pick any websites via google.

Where you get that misleading information from?

Participation in the Ku Klux Klan

Byrd joined the Ku Klux Klan when he was 24 in 1942. His local chapter unanimously elected him Exalted Cyclops.[6]

According to Byrd, a Klan official told him, "You have a talent for leadership, Bob... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation." Byrd later recalled, "suddenly lights flashed in my mind! Someone important had recognized my abilities! I was only 23 or 24 years old, and the thought of a political career had never really hit me. But strike me that night, it did."[6] Byrd held the titles Kleagle (recruiter) and Exalted Cyclops.[6]

In 1944, Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore Bilbo:[9]

“ I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. ”

— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944, [6][10]

When running for the United States House of Representatives in 1952, he announced "After about a year, I became disinterested, quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization. During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan." He said he had joined the Klan because he felt it offered excitement and was anti-communist.[6] However, in 1946 or 1947 he wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation."[11]

In 1997, he told an interviewer he would encourage young people to become involved in politics, but to "Be sure you avoid the Ku Klux Klan. Don't get that albatross around your neck. Once you've made that mistake, you inhibit your operations in the political arena."[12] In his latest autobiography, Byrd explained that he was a member because he "was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions."[13] Byrd also said, in 2005,

“ I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened. ”

— Robert C. Byrd, [6]

Exactly

I really have no idea why Kokonut brought up 67 years old subject to compare with Joe Wilson...

What Byrd did is belongs PAST. Yes, he regretted his wrong doing when he was youth.

Oh yes, he apologized for it MANY times... but Joe Wilson????

Why would Wilson apologize for being a confederate. people are confederate for many reason... heritage, state rights, etc.... but I rarely know any who joined because they don't like blacks. they join KKK for that reason. did he say he is racist and still believe in desegregation and slavery??

I personally don´t care Wilson´s and Bryd´s private background but I really have no idea why the subject "racism" has been brought up in this thread that because Obama has skin color.

Anyway Kokonut choose to pull Bryd´s 67 years old subject to defend Wilson.

Anyway, Bryd acknowledge his mistake and apologized MANY times.

Joe Wilson refused to apology for second time for his disrespectful behavior toward President. Why can´t he simply accept if he was being demand to have another apology? Why can´t he take Bryd´s example to apology for second or more.... I can see that Wilson don´t know how to act respectful adult.

commons (as I was told that's how they refer them) shout stuffs like "LIES" too in U.K.

You're missing the point here. Byrd has never, never, ever apologized or showed any remorse over his past actions during his years as a KKK and Kleagle. Democrats have a bonafide racist on their hands as a reminder to this day. Though what didn't help was during his 1968 floor speech he implied that MLK Jr. has himself to blame for his own assassination. He even said the n-word, twice, on national tv in 2001 which reflected his still strong attachment to his KKK thinking.

I cannot believe what are you talking so thanks to god, I'm not going let you to put bunches of right wing nonsense in my brain because I'm not stupid about your post.

Stop being nonsense and be yourself as serious, man.
