"piles of black friends..." and "Use my bathroom?" Classic!

He's a joke.
 
If he believes interracial couples typically have compatibility problems, he should have voiced his concerns through the appropriate people that deal with that issue. It's not his place to determine the compatibility of any couple, thus should have signed the license as established by law, or cease implementing any type of legal arrangements altogether.
 
JOPs are elected or appointed. They don't usually have to have any formal legal education. JOPs usually have administrative functions (marriage licenses in this case). They might handle traffic violations and petty crimes.

This JOP should be removed. Unfortunately, Louisiana still has a lot of overt racism.
 
It's not the judges place to make that decision....it is the states lawmakers decision. He can make claimsofnon-racist....but to go as far as making a decision that is not his to make....reeks of racism. He has to be too upset in order to go that far. Is not just some willy nilly thing.
I mean...come on.....we all know the couple will simply move somewhere or go somewhere else....not like he's stopping them....all he's done is push them out of his area........................which reeks of racisim.
 
I cannot believe that this is still occurring in this day and age. That judge needs to be removed from the bench immediately.
 
I know there still is institutional and subtle racism everywhere. Wonder if many Southern states still have the more overt racism illustrated by the so-called JOP. My hubby would love to move to particular locality in South where climate is very much to his liking yet not concern with hurricanes and tropical weather - original posting about JOP <not> is an example of why I wouldn't feel safe living there.
 
This J P does not think he is a racist and that is worst that someone who know they're a racist! My sister married a Black man in 70's . She wanted our Rabbi to marry them and the Rabbi would not as he was a racist! My family was so upset about this! There are still a lot racists around! and this one is disgusting! He should not be allow to be JP any more!

I have some friends that are a interracial married couple , the husband was Black , he dies a few few ago. And His wife is White. They were in New Hampshire about 14 years ago and went to eat out and could not get waited on! !
 
But isn't that illegal to deny marriage based on race?

Yeppers. Not too long ago we discussed exactly this type of response coming from those attempting to prove they are not racist. RED FLAG!!

Dogmom, the urban areas are more enlightened. I live in Houston and it's very diverse. Something like this would never happen here.

Yes, there is. My wife is black and I'm white. We get people yelling insults at us all the time. Also people treat me noticeably better when I'm alone compared to when I'm with her. It's alive and breathing here. BTW for reference sake, I live in North Carolina.
