Hurricane matthew

Stay safe REba and TCS....gonna be a rough night! When Irene blew through here , it hit overnight and it was SCARY all night with the winds howling and trees bending and not knowing if our roof would blow off. We slept in the basement all night because water was coming through the roof on the 3rd floor in our bedroom and bathroom. You are in for a long haul tonight....
Yes, it seems worse at night. It was the same for Hurricane Hugo--all night long. Can't see anything. I was really hoping it would hit during the day. No such luck.

Interesting, before Hurricane Andrew, Hugo used to be #1 most costliest hurricane ever.

Yep. The family had a good security system, too. I guess that CPI dispatcher was on the ball.
Hey ! you still have power ! What is like there now?

I saw an interpreter on TV and the guy had a full beard and mustache , you couldn't see his lips and he was mouthing the words while interpreting . I was really surprise to see this , I was trying to see if I could read his lips and there was no way to do it . I thought men interpreters were suppose to have a shaved face or a little facial hair and not have a full beard like Santa Claus .

Power went out about 2 am. Still out. No damage to house but big yard mess. Still windy and raining.

?? Have never seen a guideline about facial hair or shaved face... clothing yes... guidelines only as I've seen interpreters with bright clothing in the past. For the most part many deaf who sign don't really lipread- it's near impossible with a shaved face too.

Reba- hope you guys are okay. Here it is the second day of rainy weather all day. I don't know if that's from Hurricane Matthew or not. Haven't heard anything that will impact us or not. Have heard that 3 of my Florida friends are safe (Jacksonville....and I've forgotten where the other two are from). Have seen pics that St Augustine is indeed under water in some areas.

No, I have seen many men who are interpreters with beard and mustache so it isn't issue for me. They are sign language interpreters, not lip reading so you need to watch closed captioning or read Haley's lip.

For you, enough with it.

My friend lives in Miami and he is safe, also Miami metro have minor damage from hurricane so I believe that most impact occurred in northeastern Florida like St. Augustine.

WOW ! You both dodge a bullet , your house is still standing. I hope your power will be restored soon.

Their house was probably built to hurricane specifications (that were in place at the time of construction). I know FL homes have to be built to withstand at least a category ?4? hurricane.

No power and cell phone service keeps cutting off.
