yes it does matter on how we react -- i think the way we react on rumors, lies and etc would reinenforce ppl's perceptions on how a person is -- some ppl knows how to react positively without making themself look foolish while others just simply become violently angry and thus would make themselves look more bad than they already are possibly
i tend to talk abt it with close pals and express my disgust with whoever that is the origin of the rumor/lies/whatever -- sure ppl would get mad but why get mad and be all bitchy when a person can just simply set the record straight with some sort of back up to support their saying its a lie/rumor whatever -- but ur comment abt the various choices we have are right -- we have those choices and how we make our choices and present ourselves makes a big difference -- be all defensive and not commenting on things that just simply doesnt make sense and/or is not on the issue at hand does not accomplish anything either
or be calm and explain (if a person wishes to do so) and have a supporting proof (or what deafies often would say "evidence") -- then the result would be that other ppl who
to rumors has the choice to believe the explaination or not but in the end the truth and nothing but the truth really does lies with the person who knows it all cuz they themselves went thru it and know exactly what has happened -- if between 2 ppl then its like a he said/she said, she said/she said, he said/he said kind of situation -- 1 may be lying while the other may be truthful but often times ppl dont really know -- this is especially true in cyberspace IMO
