I let Hoichi do the talking. He was there, seen enough...

there are good publoc defenders. If you snag one thats hungry, with a cause. its gold.
I had a jew public offender once. I was fscing three years.this guy, with some.magic, some hocus pocus i dont know. I walked.that time. Even though he knew i was guilty. I even showed up high, figuring i was going in anyway... it was incredible. Ive always loved jews since then, i even.snaggesd a jew girl friend after, she was a blast..lottle thing, full of spirit and all that....
I have also had ****ty public defenders. And i did the time.
the rich wil get rich laywers with teams so on. Its just there to bleed them.dry to the bone...
Some of those dudes start at 800 and hour....at the least...i dunno what hernandez was paying..but
DhB never said public defenders are always better. He jusy ssid a simple.fact of life. That sometimes they very much are.

I'm sure there are some good public defender but probability-wise... and perhaps statistically... most people will be **** out of luck with public defender.

Yeah, I'm sure there are some...but for purposes of this discussion, they are just guys on a salary with the city/county and just plod thru the motions....

There are some that are regular attorneys who are assigned by judges to serve pro bono as defense attorneys for indigent clients when there aren't enough public defenders. Some of these lawyers aren't even criminal law specialists but real estate lawyers, bankruptcy lawyers, etc. If they refuse without a very good reason the judge can hold them in contempt.

I found this out from a lawyer friend.

Yup, that is true. Jodi's attorney which is public defender begged judge to cancel their job with Jodi Arias, judge refused that motion.

Wicked jiro...
mmmmmmmmm

Why didn't you challenge her, just like you tried to challenge me, eh?
because there's nothing flawed in her post.

Well pointless, cause I have heard this one too.
I'd like to try to believe you but.... sorry - not buying it.

so now you understand why I'm going ?????? when you said your ex-coworker... a millionaire tried to get a public defender?

Jiro, I now seeing where your at. You got it wrong. When I said LEGAL cost, it does NOT limit to just public defender. There are court cost, fees, and so on that this scumbag is too rich to be waived from, and have to pay up.

Again, LEGAL COST does not limited to public defender.

He HAS to pay court fees, judge's time, paperwork, procedure fees, and so on. He was not able to get waiver for legal fees that have NOTHING to do with public defender.

it's ok. *pat on your back* it's ok.

However, he mentioned that he can not get public defender when explaining to me how they decide on which suspect pays legal fees, while others not. He didn't ask for public defender, and didn't plan on it anyway... just FYI really.

If people are too poor to afford a lawyer they should stay out of trouble !

If people are too poor to afford a lawyer they should stay out of trouble !

No. Because people are presumed innocent, and if only the rich can afford to defend themselves then the system istelf wont be worth nothing.
The very idea of every single person first being innocent until proven guilty and that everyone can have legel counsel is one of the fundementals of s free society.
In my opinion anyway

There have been cases where one that never got into trouble, too angel to be in trouble and bam, got arrested thrown in jail, can't afford attorney. Would it be justified if that person actually innocent to be stuck on unable to get legal defense just because they were too poor?

It could happen to you, think about it.

Yup, not all countries have that approach. I do like how American justice approach. In Mexico, its opposite. Your busted and your guilty as charged and to prove your innocent, you must provide your own attorney, and go court to prove yourself. No bail, no nothing.

in both cases... you're still screwed if you're poor.
