Gitmo is on the site where the prisoners enjoy the warm and breeze weather so I guess they could send them to Siberia.

That's American prison. Believe me - Gitmo Camp is the last place where you want to be.

I don't understand about why Gitmo prison is closing, beside of torture.

Please check your PM.

Public image is not always the same as reality.

...I don't like the idea having them into our country, and we need to stop paying enormous amount of our taxes. Our priority focus on our health issues and jobs for now. Then, we should start invest in our alternative energy to eliminate the foreign oils.
If we move them to other facilities, it will cost even more, on top of the money that we've spent in building the facilities at GITMO.

The GITMO prisoners can't just be thrown into any facility; they will need to build new wings just for them. That's what happened at our brig in Charleston. They blocked off a whole wing just for a couple of prisoners. What a waste.

Maybe they were a threat to national security?

have you? and beside - it's already been exposed. Pictures, testimonies, and whistleblowers.

Yep WAY long ago when Bush and Chiney were in the office, we already knew about it and yet, they didnt do a thing and Chiney said he had no idea what was going on there...I can smell bullshit.

Yeah, we have those prisons here in California. It is a mess when stuff like prison breaks come out. Last time in my peaceful slumbering city, I recall an inmate broke free of our sheriff county jail and the high school is just across the street from it. The suspect made it halfway through the field track before the cops got him back down and transferred him to another facility, I dunno where. This cause a lot of panic among the citizens.

It is a big deal to us when convicts escape from our jails here and strike fear in the hearts of Californians.

Wiki also has a nice list of all the military detainment facilities:

o Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia
I agree with Reba's statement, it would rather appear that neighboring states without these facilities would be more likely prone to blindly accept the proposal to shut down Guantanamo.
Sorry, but Wiki's list is out of date. Just at a glance, I see Keflavik is on the list, and that base has been closed for years.

Vandenberg is too small and sensitive.

Waterfront brigs are like small town jails.

PCF and Detention facilities are too small, minimum security.

Miramar is identical to the Charleston's facility.

I was kinda of disappointment. What a mess that we have now. There is no easy solution for this problem. Once, it exposed to the countries as they saw on the news about abuses and tortures at GITMO. The foreigners will copy them to torture us if we visit other countries. I think that it is better for them to go home.

What else you have a better idea instead of GITMO? Send them in a big gas room like Nazi? Remember, Japanese camps during WWII? How these Japanese prisoners adapted a new environment after they were freed? Did they attack American people after they were freed? I am just making a brainstorm.

In my opinion, they should stay in GITMO. The facilities are already there, and they can be kept separate from our communities.

Are you talking about interment camps in America for civilians of Japanese descent? Or are you talking about Japanese soldiers that were taken prisoner in combat?

There have been accusations but not proof.

Maybe they were a threat to national security?
Yep. And it will be even worse if over 200 inmates are moved out of GITMO. Can you imagine the facilities that will need to be constructed for that many?

whoa whoa whoa aside from seeing those pictures and videos we seen on CNN months ago?

and plus the testimonies by whistleblowers and guards.

true. good question, reba.

The 200 detainees can be split up with the 3 military prisons that are already under consideration. Afterall 200 divided by 3 = 66.66.

It's feasible to split the detainees up and have them housed in different prisons.

that means 3 prison facilities must be upgraded/built for them.

$$$$$$$$$ x 3 = epic fail
