It doesn't have to be a pump shotgun to do that.

I said pump shotgun because the noise it makes is enough to scare a lot of people and send them out the door, but you gun people don't want that, you just want to blow him/her away with your assault rifles.

Some hunters donate their venison to food pantries.

what's your story with guns? were you a victim of gun-related crime? did your loved one get killed by gun? what is it?

Alaska is famous for that.

and Alaska is famous for strict, harsh penalty for Wanton Waste Law

I don't know who you are including in "you gun people" but that certainly doesn't describe me. I have no desire to blow away anyone with anything, including an "assault" rifle.

We have three different kinds of shotguns in our home. For your information, not everyone can easily perform the pump action, so it's good to have alternatives available.

You are dreaming if you think that just the sound of a shotgun being pumped is enough to stop every intruder intent on doing harm. I certainly wouldn't depend on that for self defense.

And you have to look at the constitution as it was written and the time it was written. Yes, maybe we need to revisit the 2nd amendment like we did with the 21st and make some changes that make sense in the time we are now living. I'm not talking banning your precious guns, just outlawing the ones that can kill hundreds in a matter of minutes. But this is not about banning guns it's about the absurdity of teaching a 7 or 9 year old to shoot a gun or a machine gun.

Ok, let's look at the US Constitution the way it was written, at the time it was written (yes, we have all heard this argument before, numerous times).

Let's look at the First Amendment. The right to Free Speech. Is there anything in there that mentions typewriters? Word processors? Video recorders? News Anchors? Internet? Satellites? Cell phones?

these are your calculations and assumptions from statistics -

I don't think "small town" is rural... Upstate NY is popular for fishing and deers hunting. nom nom nom. Pennsylvania... lotta hunters! West Maryland.... lotta hunters and this Maryland guy welcomed me into his home. my oh my... I've never seen so many shotguns in one home. He has 2? or 3 sons and they all hunt. I think there are over 200 shotguns and he offered me a single-bore shotgun which I kindly declined because I didn't want to deal with paperwork in NJ for transferring firearm.

Your trying to tell me that everyone in a small town in the US hunts for their food? Come on get a touch of reality. Go to the link I provided or simply Google number of hunters in the US if you don't believe the numbers. It's only 7% of the population that goes hunting and of that 7% I would be willing to guess that it provides less than 1/2 of what they eat. If your dealing with like thinkers it's no wonder you think everyone goes out and shoots their dinner each night.

I have relatives in Upstat NY who live on a farm and I have eaten at their house and guess what, the food we ate came from the grocery store, I know because I was with them when they bought it.

maybe you need to revisit the history as it shows that even in 21st century... things are happening all over again when a country disarms citizens.

the absurdity is the government using armored tanks and war weapons on unarmed citizens. that's what will happen if you change the Constitution. The founding fathers knew it very well that it will and can happen at any time and pray that the future generations won't change it.

Dude,

I have said nothing about taking your guns away! Just getting rid of the assault weapons and not letting a child shoot a gun until they are around 15 years old.

Ok and how do those not pertain to free speech? They only let you proclaim it. Please come up with an argument that shows where in the 2nd amendment it says you can own a semi automatic assault rifle with a 50 round clip or teach a child to shoot a gun? I'm not saying guns should be outlawed, just the ones that have no place in society such as assault weapons or machine guns.

I didn't say every intruder. I know a lot of cops and most rely on shotguns for self defense in their home and that is because in close proximity it's hard to miss with one. You people have got to realize that these video games are just that video games, we don't have or at least where I live we don't have home invasions all the time and if someone comes in give them what they want and let them leave, risking your life is not worth it.

why not make a toy shotgun that makes a loud cocking?

did I say that?

1. do you know why "Rights to Bear Arms" is Second Amendment? just below First Amendment? because the founding fathers are not that naive and ideal. they know you need guns to help protect your liberty and free speech.

2. machine guns are illegal to own. I don't know what makes you think we can have it.

3. 50 rounds clip? really? we have that? well beside.... it's illegal to have high capacity magazine anyway

4. what's "assault weapon" anyway?

you don't get to tell us what firearm to use and what we do in case of home invasion. I thought this is America where we can decide for ourselves. can we decide for ourselves - pretty please?

Cheshire, Connecticut, home invasion murders - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to Hayes' confession, the two men planned to rob the house under cover of darkness and flee the scene with the family bound and unharmed. Hayes attributed the outcome of the spree to a change in their plan. Upon their arrival in the early hours of July 23, they found William Petit was sleeping on a couch on the porch.[7] With a baseball bat Komisarjevsky had found in the yard, he struck William on the head and then restrained him in the basement at gunpoint. Following the restraining, the children and the mother were bound and locked in their respective rooms. Hayes says he and Komisarjevsky were not satisfied with their haul, and that a bankbook was found which had an available balance. Hayes convinced Jennifer to withdraw $15,000 from her line of credit when the bank opened.[1][8]

and a "quick robbery" ended with rape, torture, murders...

And this could of been stopped how? They were all asleep, so a gun, shotgun, rifle, assault weapon, uzi would have done them no good. Moral of story is don't leave baseball bats lying around the yard and don't sleep on the porch and obviously don't sleep so soundly.
