Gas Prices can go down even futher if Russia expands oil.

You don't know what is it like to live out in the country! Compact cars can't get around as well as SUV, and SUV has its advantages over small compact cars.

I did had my Jeep dive in deep mud! Boy it was blast time, friend of mine decided to try his Toyota PU truck, and had to call his friend who have F-150 to winch him out! LOL

You are true environment killer, that's not cool.

I hate SUV and V6-V8 truck.

No, there's people that who from rural area, even semi-rural of Atlanta does have regular cars, unless they aren't farmers or do business with farmers.

There's mixed of transportation like urban does, no way to have all SUV over area.

Wow I am totally pass down at this thread, but my opinion...

Why not gas be expensive in big cities and low price in rurals? Because people in big city do not have a good excuse to have a car while they can ride the city buses or light rail or whatever.

What do everyone think?

Damn, I can't edit it, too late.

Texas Guy, if you are work for companies or farmer then you are fine with V8 truck, just ignore my post about environment killer (#69) on previous.

I just applies to someone who own V8 truck for nothing.

How about suburb?

That is even better, thanks.

Bottom line is, mass transportation is NOT for everybody, period.

ok, I know that.

I wasn't encourage to settle on public transportation but I just goes for alternative fuel.

Ok, I know that most people who from suburb or rural area that are commute to city for workplace, that's no way to use public transportation, from workplace to home, there's certain of suburb that has lousy public transportation.

It's not applies to several cities like LA metro and NYC metro because they have full feature of public transportation, for commute from suburb to city via vehicles are in Tampa, Phoenix, Las vegas and others.

What's interesting is that they are currently rebuilding (repaving, fixing the joints plates) I-5 south of downtown Seattle. The Sounder commuter rail ridership shot up from normal average, there was over 2,200 riders in one trip going northbound to Seattle from Tacoma. If you destroy freeways or reduce lanes, ridership CAN soar on alternative mass transits in the metropolitican areas. Gas prices isn't the only way to boost ridership, by the way.

I want gas price to increase more than $8, that will make USA to get more attention, such as quickly to invent the alternative fuel, it doesn't waste of our time.
Thanks a lot. That will put me, Hubby, and my daughter out of work.

That will also put out of work many other small businesses.

How many fence posts, boards, and bags of Qwikrete can you carry in a Prius? What size trailer can it tow?

Not always, many interpreters got position at public school like my interpreter is full-time and she was interpeting to me until end of my senior, I know that she's changed into different middle and high school that under LA school, salaries are good as well.
Guess what? Deaf people (especially adults) need interpreters 24/7.

Sometimes it's not just about salaries. I've had offers for full-time school work.

Who cares? Pizza is bad for you, too much calories.
It's not just pizzas. It's any kind of delivery service. Watch the vans and small trucks that drive by delivering:

auto parts

bottled water

windshields

flowers

appliance delivery and repair

plumbers, electricians, cable installers

furniture

lock smith services

landscaping services

commercial laundry

catering

residential and commercial painting services

FEDEX, UPS

If the price of gas goes up too high they have to:

go bankrupt

lay off workers

stop delivering

charge very high delivery rates to you and me

Remember, oil wouldn't live for long time, that would be problem with supplies of oil, if we are run out of oil then we will be screw up, when alternative fuel isn't invent so earlier, I had seen about denied in other years. OPEC and middle eastern countries have rights to refuse to delivery an barrel of oil for some reason, that never know if happen.

Increase more cost on gas would make us to move on and focus on alternative fuel or other methods to use vehicles without gas or oil needed, most Americans aren't tolerate with expensive gas prices, if invent and time for change then issue on oil would solve and left oil in other countries.

If you don't care about other methods then high gas prices are for you, that life like other countries, gas price are cost more than us, plus if you do care then that's good. For me, I hate to spend too much on gas, no offense and can't wait to get other methods of fuel.

Some companies like Wal-mart are changing the system for delivery truck, such as use other methods like biodiesel and they are focus on environment friendly, Wal-Mart has been hurt from high gas price and cut on shipping on some days, that make send boxes in combined if stuff are almost out or sold out, instead of full. I don't know about other companies but I'm sure that they will care about it.

That is what I mean, too many people in America lives out in country, I would love to live in country, and if I find right house, right property and right location and DECENT water supply then I'd move there.

Sure, have fun with dial-up, satellite internet or crappy DSL.

I want to add one more thing...

I personally know a person who is CEO of an oil company in Houston, Texas. He will retire within two years from now. He told me that oil WILL RUN OUT within 10 to 14 years from now. He encourages people to rethink about their transportation. He wrote the letters to US cities to encourage them to build public transit system before oil runs out. He also told me that gas prices will skyrocket to more than 10 dollars within a year or two from now.

Once oil runs out, Americans will FREAK OUT for sure. I strongly urge anyone to rethink about their transportation.

It is exactly same idea that we would freak out if we don't have electricity or water anymore.

Oh! Speaking of oil running out... This film, I recommand anyone to watch "If... The Oil Runs out." More information about this film, BBC NEWS | Programmes | If | If... The Oil Runs Out

We have to change ours bad habit for being dependable on oils. It won't be effected if we rethink about ours transportation and futures.

La Pine, OR, is a huge city compared to rural towns in South Carolina.

We have many towns with fewer than 1,000 people. We even have many towns with less than 100 people! And yes, Deaf people live in some of those towns. I know one family that travels three hours by train for doctor visits. If they can do that, I certainly can drive to them when needed.

I don't drive that far every day, just occasionally.

Hahaha La Pine isn't that huge city for its size. La Pine is spreaded out town. It isn't built together like typical towns you can find across the country.

If that happens... People who are automobile addicts would leave cities for rural areas and create rural towns into bigger cities, bring more traffics and pollute their clean airs. People in rural areas won't be happy about that.

Bakersfield, California is perfect example. Bakersfield is home of many big name oil companies and have oil fields as well. The gas prices in Bakersfield used to be very very cheap as under 60 cent than compared to the average of gas price in USA. Once people found out about it and they moved there. Bakersfield used to be an oil town... Now guess what? Bakersfield became into bigger city with more than 350,000 people with more than 600,000 people in the metro area. Their gas price isn't cheap anymore.

That could happen to any rural town too.
